Needs must: publication and the midwife

There are obvious benefits to all concerned when a midwife is able to publish. There may also be certain burdens; one of these is the imbalance in the power relationship between the publisher and the author. This article considers the ways in which midwives may best take advantage of the publishing opportunities which present themselves.

Culture and loss in the clinical setting

Reflection on incidents occurring in everyday midwifery practice can give valuable insight into the significance of culture in situations involving loss. This article focuses on three separate incidences in which cultural lessons were learnt.
