The Internet technology has brought major changes to the way business is conducted today. Many terms have been coined to represent the electronic concepts and applications such as e-Business and e-Commerce. These terms are commonly used to represent the transformation of business processes and transactions. In Malaysia, the e-Business adoption has not only captured the interest of large organizations but has also been acknowledged and adopted by small, medium and micro sized enterprises. Implementing e-Business requires significant changes in a company’s structure, culture, strategy, procedures and responsibilities. However, the challenges do not stop people from venturing into this new business concept. A study is conducted to look into e-Business potential for micro sized businesses that operate from home in Malaysia. In this study both qualitative and quantitative methods are used. This paper reviews the issues pertaining to e-Business and home-based business, describes the methodology and reports the early findings from the study

A review on IT outsourcing approach and a proposed IT outsourcing model for Malaysian SMEs in e-Business adoption

Information Technology (IT) outsourcing has been identified as one of potential business services in the Malaysia Economic Transformation Plan. In relation to it, this research aims to investigate the requirements and key success factors of deploying IT outsourcing services among the Malaysian SMEs for e-Business needs. This research will also explore the potential and implication of implementing the IT outsourcing in Malaysia particularly among the SMEs. This paper discusses the literature review on IT outsourcing concept, practices and available models to identify the key success factors and research gaps in this area. The review also includes the e-Business development in Malaysia. This research uses quantitative approach for data collection and hypothesis testing. Outcomes from this research will be a proposed eBusiness outsourcing model targeted for SMEs. However, this paper will only discuss findings from the literature review.

This paper presents literature review that covered key areas in this research such as e-Business development, Cloud Computing concept and opportunities for Malaysian SMEs. This research aims to investigate the best practices of Cloud Computing within the e-Business context for the Malaysian SMEs. This paper also discussed the qualitative and quantitative approaches that were used to gather data on how the Cloud Computing can strategically provide technology and business opportunities to the SMEs in Malaysia. Deliverable from this research will be a set of recommendations to guide the Malaysian SMEs to adopt both e-Business and Cloud Computing technologies. This paper presented a recommendation for creating awareness of Cloud Computing approach among the SMEs for their e-Business needs.

A review of factors that influenced online trust in social commerce

The recent advancements in social media and electronic commerce have produced a new business model called social commerce. This new business model has facilitated online business transactions via social media. Despite the advancement of technology, the issue of online trust has increased in social commerce. The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors that influence online trust in social commerce. Seven models related to online trust in electronic commerce, electronic business, and social commerce were reviewed and analyzed. This has resulted in identifying six factors, which are usefulness, ease of use, security, privacy, website design, and electronic word of mouth; as the most influential factors that influence online trust in social commerce. Discussion and direction of future work are pointed out in this paper.

A review on IT outsourcing practices for e-business transformation among SMEs in Malaysia

SMEs are major contributors to the Malaysias economic growth. They constitute about 99.2% of registered companies in Malaysia. E-business is believed could help to increase the SMEs competitiveness by venturing into global and virtual marketplace. However, it is reported that only 20% of SMEs have an Internet presence but not fully e-business. Among the limitations that the SMEs faced are lack of IT skills and resources, thus IT outsourcing is seen as one of potential solutions. This research aims to investigate factors that influence the decision to deploy IT outsourcing approach for e-business transformation among the SMEs. This paper discusses the literature review on e-business and IT outsourcing practices for SMEs. A qualitative method via case study approach is used to gather in-depth understanding of the situation. The expected outcomes from this research will be an IT outsourcing model to assist e-business transformation for SMEs. However, this paper will only discuss findings from the literature review.

Using KNN algorithm for classification of textual documents

Nowadays the exponential growth of generation of textual documents and the emergent need to structure them increase the attention to the automated classification of documents into predefined categories. There is wide range of supervised learning algorithms that deal with text classification. This paper deals with an approach for building a machine learning system in R that uses K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) method for the classification of textual documents. The experimental part of the research was done on collected textual documents from two sources: http://egov.kz and http://www.government.kz. The experiment was devoted to challenging thing of the KNN algorithm that to find the proper value of k which represents the number of neighbors.

This paper presents literature review that is currently conducted to look into e-Business development with the emergence of cloud computing concept. The discussions in this paper includes the e-Business development, opportunities and challenges, and how the cloud computing is perceived in the e-Business context. This paper also presents the methodology that will be used to gather data to see how far the cloud computing has influenced e-Business for SMEs in Malaysia. Outcome from this research will be a set of recommendation for deploying cloud computing in e-Business environment.
