Due to deployment of the wireless technology, the microstrip antenna can be used for RFID application especially for tag antenna. The existed RFID tag antenna usually use dipole model to get the maximum performance. However, the dipole antenna which has linear polarization performance has disadvantages on alignment that makes data detection on RFID can not be accurate. To reduce error during data detection caused of misalignment between reader and transponder, the tag antenna should have circularly polarized performance. The antenna was made with microstrip-line fed on FR-4 Epoxy substrate and works covers 2.4 GHz of its frequency range of 2 up to 3.3 GHz which S-parameter level below −9.54 dB and the direction of the transmitted power omnidirectionally and has circular polarization at frequency range of 2.39 until 2.46 GHz which has axial ratio below 3 dB.

The deployment of the wireless technology since FCC regulated the UWB technology spectrum was going rapidly. The wireless system that supports UWB, especially the antenna as the transducer should be UWB supported beside the other existed wireless technology, ease to fabricate and low cost. Not only that, The antenna performance should be has circular polarization to reduce misalignment. With the dimension of 60 x 60 mm made from FR-4 epoxy 0.8 mm thickness, and L-shape for the feedline with the star shape as the patch, the microstrip antenna can work at the frequency of 2 up to 9.8 GHz and has circular polarization in the frequency range of 2 up to 3.3 GHz.

This paper discussed about how to design a microstrip antenna for 2.4 GHz of frequency. The microstrip antennas are single patch and array microstrip antenna. After designing single patch antenna based on calculation and optimization, the better one is used for make an array microstrip antenna. There are 5 patches which are connected to each other. After completed the design of antennas, the testing of data serial communication when sending a message. Messages received by microstrip antenna with single patch have a fairly long delay, i.e. 10.3 seconds. Array microstrip antenna has a shorter delay than microstrip antenna with single patch, which is 4.6 seconds.

This paper proposes four series of rectenna using monopole microstrip circular patch used as receiver device on wireless power transmission. The antenna is simulated and optimized using commercially available software, Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave Studio 2014. The antenna fabricated using FR-4 as substrate materials. The antenna provides reflection loss of -20,05 dB at frequency 2,4 GHz while in frequency 2,45 GHz -27,6 dB with 600 MHz in -10 dB bandwidth. The four series of rectenna can accept the maximum power of 12,61 mW. The performance of antenna observed is reflection loss S11, far-field plot and antenna gain while rectenna is voltage and current.
