Application of the hybrid algorithm combining ant colony optimization algorithm with microgenetic algorithm to the optimization of multilayered radar absorbing coating

Kun Chao; Yunlin Liu; Rugui Yang

A new optimization technique based on the hybrid algorithm combining ant colony optimization algorithm with microgenetic algorithm is presented for the design of multilayered radar absorbing materials. During the optimization procedure the optimization constrained conditions are different in order to meet the practical requirements in the different frequency bands between 2 GHz and 18 GHz, and the multilayered radar absorbing materials is also designed for a given maximum total thickness. The effects of the thickness and the number of layers on the optimization results are discussed in detail. The numerical results show that this new hybrid algorithm can obtain a better solution than that of the genetic algorithm.

Research on rectangular patch antenna with magnetic substrate

Yunlin Liu; Yong Wang; Rugui Yang

Theoretical analysis and experimental results of the bandwidth of one rectangular patch antenna with macromolecule magnetic substrate are presented in this paper. And the results showed that magnetic property results in wide impedance bandwidth. Experimental study on a new kind of compact stacked quarter wavelength patch antenna is presented also in this paper. The results showed the impedance bandwidth of this kind of patch antenna is double than the one of the common quarter wavelength patch antenna.

Application of TD-MEI method in FEMTD

Shuangwen Zhang; Yunlin Liu; Rugui Yang

The measured equation of invariance method in time domain (TD-MEI) is first applied to truncate the computation domain in the finite element method in time domain (FEMTD) to solve the radiation problem of a line source, the numerical results is presented and the validity and the accuracy are discussed.

Yunlin Liu; Yong Wang; Rugui Yang

A new patch antenna with macromolecule magnetic substrate is presented in this paper. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results showed that this kind of patch antenna has extremely wide frequency bandwidth for the impedance character.

Application of MEI-ABC in edge-based finite element method in time domain

Shuangwen Zhang; Yunlin Liu; Rugui Yang

The measured equation of invariance method in time domain (TD-MEI) worked as an absorbing boundary condition (ABC) was employed to truncate the computation domain of edge-based finite element method in time domain (TDFEM), the MEI coefficients were obtained by the self-metron method, and the radiation problem of a line source was solved by this scheme, the numerical results has shown its validity and accuracy.

The High-Mode-Merging Technique for Dielectric Waveguide

Jingsheng Tang; Kemin Sheng; Zheng Wang; Rugui Yang

The mode-matching method and transverse resonance technique for dielectric waveguide was developed in 60s-70s last century. After that, only few attentions were paid. But it may be an effective method. According to the strict mode-matching method of the solving electromagnetic field, a derived method-high-mode-merging method is approached, than a kind of the equivalent network can be got. The network not only expresses the characteristic of the dominant mode mainly but also considers the influence of high modes if they are excited. Thus it guarantees strictness of original theory and simplifies the calculation consumedly.

A New Absorbing Boundary Condition for FEMTD

Shuangwen Zhang; Yunlin Liu; Rugui Yang

The measured equation of invariance method in time domain (TD-MEI) is modified to adapt for the finite element method in time domain (FEMTD), it is applied to terminate the computation domain. The radiation problem of a line source is solved by using this scheme, the numerical results is presented and the validity and the accuracy are discussed.

Optimization of multilayered ZnO whisker radar absorbing coatings using microgenetic algorithm

Kun Chao; Yunlin Liu; Rugui Yang

An optimization technique based on the microgenetic algorithm (MGA) is presented for the design of multilayered radar absorbing materials made of tetrapod-shaped ZnO whisker in this paper. The fast optimization procedure is designed for a given maximum thickness and the optimization conditions are different in order to meet the practical requirements in the different frequency bands (the range of 2/spl sim/18GHz). The effects of the thickness, the number of layers, and the restrained conditions on the optimization results are discussed in detail.

Auxiliary functions in electromagnetic theory

Rugui Yang

In this paper, all auxiliary functions in electromagnetic (EM) theory are discussed, and the author points out that some inherent relationships exist among them. We observe that these functions are not isolated from each other, and the scalar wave functions are the most important. The transforms between any two scalar wave functions are very useful for solving EM boundary problems.
