Abstract Catalyst-free tandem Knoevenagel-Michael reaction of aryl aldehydes and two equivalents of 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one results in fast (5 min) formation of medicinally relevant 4,4′-(arylmethylene)bis(1H-pyrazol-5-ol)s in excellent 93%–99% yield.
