A fiber-based, wavelength-shift free 3R-regenerating repeater was operated at 160 Gbit/s in a dispersion-managed fiber link for the first time. Error free 160 Gbit/s OTDM transmission over 186 km was demonstrated.

Wavelength conversion by spectral broadening in a normal dispersion fiber is experimentally demonstrated at 40, 80 and 160Gb/s, for the first time, and bit-rate free operation is confirmed. 2R-regenerating capability is also demonstrated at 160Gb/s.

We demonstrate the noise limiting performance of a fiber switch based on parametric gain saturation in highly nonlinear fiber. Bit-error-rate measurements were performed at 160 Gb/s for on-off keying (OOK) and differential phase shift keying (DPSK) data signals.

We experimentally demonstrate 110.3 Gbps/lambda DMT transmission over 100 km SMF without chromatic dispersion compensation. Transmission reach extension is achieved by suppression of power fading of chromatic dispersion and nonlinearities using combination of VSB and NLC.

An ultrafast bit rate and format transparent all-optical packet equalizer is presented, based on fiber-optic parametric amplification. Its equalizing performance is investigated for 43 Gbaud OOK, DPSK and DQPSK signals. The improvement is verified in transmission experiments over 1000km dispersion-managed fiber.

An all-optical parametric fiber switch for all-optical amplitude noise suppression was applied mid-span in a 107 Gb/s differential phase shift keying (DPSK) transmission experiment. Using this switch an improved performance after 320 km transmission was achieved.
