Application of a Parallel Virtual Machine for the Analysis of a Luminous Field

Leszek Kasprzyk; Ryszard Nawrowski; Andrzej Tomczewski

The article presents an exemplary solution of computation dissipation of luminous flux distribution in interiors, taking into account their multiple reflections, by means of a parallel virtual machine of cluster type. Communication between the processors was ensured by the PVM library operating under the operational system LINUX. Advantages and faults of the programs operating at the computers connected into the network making the cluster are discussed. An analysis of acceleration and efficiency of a concurrent program is carried out. During construction of the algorithm attention was paid to minimization of the number of transferred messages. Calculation examples are presented.

An application of genetic algorithm for three phases screened conductors optimization

Karol Bednarek; Ryszard Nawrowski; Andrzej Tomczewski

The paper presents a comparison of classical and genetic methods of dimensional optimization of three-phase heavy-current lines (busways), screened with a view to minimizing the use of material of phase conductors and their screen. A mathematical model is presented for electro-dynamical calculations of the screened line, determining the distribution of current density and temperature in the conductors and their screen, as well as electrodynamical forces. Special attention is paid to the possibility of improving the performance of optimization calculation through application of the genetic method and computers provided with several, simultaneously operating processors. Results of the calculations for various optimization methods are presented and discussion of the results is enclosed.

Parallel calculations applied to light field analysis

Leszek Kasprzyk; Ryszard Nawrowski; Andrzej Tomczewski

The paper presents examples of solutions of computation dissipation of luminous flux distribution in interiors, taking into account multiple reflections, carried out at a parallel machine of cluster type. The structure of homogeneous and heterogeneous clusters was discussed. For communication between the processes the PVM library was used, operating under the Linux operational system. Advantages and drawbacks of the programs operating at the computers connected into the cluster are discussed. Acceleration and performance of the concurrent program was analyzed. In designing the algorithm attention was paid to minimization of the volume of interchanged messages. In the case of the heterogeneous machine three algorithms were compared with each other. Examples of the calculation results are presented, and operation modes of the homogeneous and heterogeneous clusters are compared.

The thermal fields in nonequilibrium plasma generator

Ryszard Nawrowski

The paper presents the mathematical model of the coupling between electric field and thermal field in plasma generator. The equations of momentum, composition and energy are taken into consideration. An algorithm of numerical solutions of nonequilibrium plasma equations is presented. This algorithm is used for the simulation of stationary plasma jet in the divergent nozzles. In the paper the results of calculation of thermal field in argon plasma generator are presented.

Testing of efficiency and power transferred from the source to the receiver in various wireless power supply systems

Michał Filipiak; Ryszard Nawrowski

The article presents 4 wireless power supply systems for electrical devices. Two-coil systems were presented in different power supply systems. Efficiency and output power without and in the state of resonance were compared. Also, test results for the secondary side compensation were presented. The testing was aimed at finding the highest efficiency of the system to power a receiver with a different load resistance. It was performed within the coil distance range between 1.5 cm and 5 cm.

Optimization of Complex Lighting Systems in Interiors with the Use of Genetic Algorithm and Elements of Paralleling of the Computation Process

Leszek Kasprzyk; Ryszard Nawrowski; Andrzej Tomczewski

The paper presents the application of a genetic algorithm to optimization of the costs related to complex lighting systems. A form of objective function, a group of constraints, and a method of their implementing into the computation algorithm are proposed. For purposes of analysis of the electromagnetic field in visible range the Boundary Elements Method is used. Some elements of the computation algorithm are proposed that may be organized in parallel, as well as a method of communication between the computer issuing an order for the computation process and the cluster-supervising computer. Example optimization calculation is carried out and discussed.

Using a Parallel Virtual Machine to Optimize Lighting Systems

Leszek Kasprzyk; Ryszard Nawrowski; Andrzej Tomczewski

The paper presents the possibilities of using a parallel virtual machine for cost optimization of complex lighting systems. The objective function includes entire costs of the lighting systems. In order to determine the distribution of the luminous flux in one of the optimization algorithms a heterogeneous virtual machine was used. Communication between the processes was effected with the help of the MPICH-2 library, operating under the LINUX SuSE 10.0 system. The results of example optimized computation, speedup and efficiency of a parallel algorithm analysis of electromagnetic field (visible range) are presented
