Types of orebodies on the basis of the occurrence depth and stress state. Part II: Orebody tectonotypes and geomedium models

The author has accomplished systematization of ore fields by their geomechanical conditions based on the analysis of their tectonic structures. It is established that natural stress fields in the same type geological and tectonic structures are similar in mining regions worldwide. The author has distinguished four geomedium models differentiating the change of the rock stress state with increase in the rock occurrence depth.

Geomechanical assessment of ore drawpoint stability in mining with caving

The authors solve the problem on stress-strain state of adjacent rocks of ore passes arranged in the face area under caved ore and the ore passes arranged both lengthwise the stope and in the stope face area (the face ore drawing scheme and the stope-through drawing, respectively) by using the finite element method. The article describes stress distribution in higher stress zones and in distressed areas depending on ore discharge preparation techniques at depths down to 1.5 km.

The article presents a discussion and generalized analysis of in situ stress field in the outer crust of Earth. It has been found that rock masses in mining countries are generally exposed to tectonic stresses, and major horizontal stresses change nonlinearly with increase in the rock mass occurrence depth.

Extraction of gold-bearing ore from under the open pit bottom at the Makmal deposit by room-and-pillar mining with backfill made of production waste

The article describes the experience of backfilling mined-out spaces in the north and south ore lentils of the Southern orebody of the Makmal deposit, Kyrgyz Republic, through gaps in the open pit bottom by using noncommercial dump material. The theoretical and technological aspects of safe underground extraction of safety pillar are discussed.

Assessment of Influence of Voids on Phase II Mining Safety at Artemievsk Deposit

Based on the developed parametric model of mined-out area in Artemievsk Mine, parameters and anticipated size of accumulated voids and exposures within the limits of Phase I mining are determined. Stability of underground excavations is estimated by the data of 3D modeling of rock mass stress state. Implementation of recommendations will allow safe completion of Phase I and transition to Phase II mining.

Geomechanical assessment of compound mining technology with backfilling and caving for thick flat ore bodies

The authors develop a version of a compound technology with consolidating backfilling and caving for thick flat body of polymetals. Numerical evaluation shows that the technology with the cover caving above consolidating backfill ensures higher safety of mining.
