Intensities and self-broadening coefficients of O3 in the 5 μm region

J.J. Plateaux; S. Bouazza; A. Barbe

Abstract In order to derive intensities and self-broadening coefficients of ozone, numerous spectra have been recorded with the FTS of Reims ( S N = 800 , resolution 0.002 cm−1, corresponding to half of Doppler width). Great care has been taken to determine the amount of ozone. Least-squares fits, particularly suitable for O3, resulted in values for the intensities and self-broadening coefficients (αs) of 237 lines of ν1 + ν3, 2ν1, and 2ν3 bands. Wavenumbers and intensities are compared with data from the most recent analysis in this region. Values of αs are new. In addition, wavenumbers and intensities of a few lines of hot bands 2ν3 + ν1 − ν3 and ν1 + ν2 + ν3 − ν2 are compared with the compilation of Flaud, Camy-Peyret, Rinsland, Smith, and Malathy Devi.

High-resolution Fourier transform spectrometer of Reims: servo systems, recording, computing, reduction of data by least-square fit procedure

J. J. Plateaux; Alain Barbe; S. Bouazza

We describe the high resolution F.T.S. of Reims. In particular we detail the way to obtain the best safety during the working process of the instrument. We also show how to improve the signal/noise ratio by good temporal data acquisition. We finally describe all the softwares used to reduce data.

High-resolution infrared spectra of ozone: nitrogen and oxygen broadening coefficients and pressure shifts--analysis of isotopic species

Alain Barbe; J. J. Plateaux; S. Bouazza

The region of 5 micrometers is one atmospheric window where ozone may be easily observed in solar spectra. It corresponds to the triad 2 (nu)3, (nu)1 + (nu)3, 2 (nu)1, there (nu)1 + (nu)3 is the strongest band. Isotopic bands of (nu)1 + (nu)3 of 16O16O16O and 16O18O16O may also be observed. This study is particularly concerned with application to atmospheric transmittance, considering line position, intensity, self-broadening coefficient, air broadening coefficient, and shifts of O3.
