A large family of new black hole solutions in 2+1-dimensional Einstein-Power-Maxwell (EPM) gravity with prescribed physical properties is derived. We show with particular examples that according to the power parameter k of the Maxwell field, the obtained solutions may be asymptotically flat for 1/2 1 in the vanishing cosmological constant limit. We study the thermodynamic properties of the solution with two different models and it is shown that thermodynamic quantities satisfy the first law. The behaviour of the heat capacity indicates that by employing the 1+1-dimensional dilaton analogy the local thermodynamic stability is satisfied.

By adopting the 5D version of the Wu-Yang ansatz we present in closed form a black hole solution in the Einstein-Yang-Mills-Gauss-Bonnet theory. In the Einstein-Yang-Mills limit, we recover the 5D black hole solution already known.

The d-dimensional generalization of the point canonical transformation for a quantum particle endowed with a position-dependent mass in the Schrodinger equation is described. Illustrative examples including the harmonic oscillator, Coulomb, spiked harmonic, Kratzer, Morse oscillator, Pőschl–Teller and Hulthen potentials are used as reference potentials to obtain exact energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for target potentials at different position-dependent mass settings.

4-dimensional static, spherically symmetric spacetime. To find a possible source for such a spacetime we resort to the nonlinear electrodynamics in general relativity. It is found that a magnetic field within this context gives rise to the regular Hayward black hole.
