Modeling of the Nonstationary Process of Conversion of Methane to Hydrogen in a Filtration-Combustion Wave

S. I. Shabunya; V. V. Martynenko; N. L. Yadrevskaya; A. D. Yakimovich

Experimental data on incomplete oxidation of methane in air are analyzed for the stoichiometric relation γ = 4 using a numerical model; the data are obtained with different charges and for different flow rates of feed of a mixture. In order to explain the experimental data, it is proposed that a heterogeneous reaction that ensures the beginning of the processes of oxidation of methane at lower temperatures be introduced into the chemical model.

Two-dimensional modeling of filtration combustion in porous charges in a one-temperature approximation

S. I. Shabunya; V. V. Martynenko

Filtration combustion with a stationary front in porous charges is modeled within the framework of a one-temperature approximation. The results of numerical calculations are compared with an analytical evaluation for the quasi-one-dimensional case of a tube of variable cross section.

OBTAINING SUPERADIABATIC TEMPERATURES IN COMBUSTION OF GASEOUS FUEL IN A SYSTEM OF TWO POROUS PLATES WITH A PERIODIC CHANGE OF THE DIRECTION OF PUMPING

S. A. Zhdanok; V. V. Martynenko; S. I. Shabunya

A mechanism of obtaining superadiabatic temperatures in a system of two porous plates is theoretically investigated. Data on the optimum pumping periods and on the value of the produced superadiabatic effect are presented.

Distinctive features of temperature profiles in filtration-combustion waves related to the temperature dependences of the heat capacities of a gas mixture and a solid phase

S. I. Shabunya; V. V. Martynenko

In most publications devoted to filtration-combustion waves, the temperature dependences of the heat capacity of gas and solid phases have not been considered at all. In those cases where such dependences are included in the models (numerical ones, as a rule) the authors put emphasis on certain interesting features of such systems. This work is devoted to consideration of special cases related to the temperature dependences of the heat capacities.

An approximate analytical solution of the problem of propagation of a filtration combustion wave in a porous medium

S. I. Fut’ko; S. I. Shabunya; S. A. Zhdanok

Within the one-dimensional single-temperature model, approximate analytical expressions are obtained for determination of the heat wave propagation velocity and the maximum temperature at the combustion front. The present results are compared with the results of the Zel’dovich - Frank-Kamenetskii asymptotic theory.
