It was performed three trials to determine the nutritional levels of available phosphorus (aP) for males and females of the strain ISA Label in the starter (1 to 28 days), growing (28 to 56 days) and finisher (56 to 84 days) phases, reared in a free-range system. In each trial, 480 birds with age corresponding to rearing phase were housed in 24 experimental units with shelter and pasture areas. It was used a complete random experimental design, in a 4 × 2 factorial scheme (levels of aP and sexes) with three replicates of 20 birds. The levels of aP evaluated were the following: 0.25, 0.36, 0.47 and 0.58% in the starter phase; 0.18, 0.31, 0.44 and 0.57% in the growing phase; and 0.14, 0.27, 0.40 and 0.53% in the finisher phase. Body weight gain, feed intake, aP intake, feed conversion, contents of phosphorus, calcium and ash in the tibia and bone breaking strength were evaluated. According to results, the optimum dietary aP levels in the starter phase, for males and females, are 0.39 and 0.49%, which correspond to the intake of 3.94 and 3.96 g of aP/bird, respectively. For the growing phase, it is recommended 0.35% of aP in the diet for birds of both sexes, which correspond to an intake of 8.45 and 6.70 g of aP/bird. In the finisher phase, it is recommended the levels 0.32 and 0.30% of aP, which corresponds to intakes of 12 g and 9.5 g aP/bird for males and females, respectively.

The objective of the study was to determine whether bioavailability of methionine hydroxy analogue free acid (MHA-FA) is higher than 65%, in product basis, for 24 to 40 week-old laying hens. Six hundred and forty 24-week commercial laying hens were used in four 28-day experimental periods in a randomized complete design with ten treatments, eight replications and eight birds per experimental unit. The treatments were based on a basal feed deficient in methionine, containing 2,830 kcal metabolizable energy (EM)/kg and 14.5% crude protein (CP), with 0.23% and 0.21% total and digestible methionine, respectively, supplemented with DL-methionine 99% DLM (0.0325; 0.05; 0.065; 0.0975; 0.10 and 0.15%) and MHA-FA (0.05; 0.10 and 0.15%). The following variables were assessed: body weight (kg), egg production (%), egg mass (g), egg weight (g), feed intake (g), feed conversion (g/feed/egg). Based on the egg production evaluation, egg mass and feed conversion, the bioavailability of MHA-FA was estimated at 74.66, 73.97 and 71.17%, respectively, giving MHA-FA an average bioavailability of 73.22% compared to DLM on product basis. The MHF-FA bioavailability was higher than 65% on product basis.

The aimed of the study was to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of different levels of an enzyme complex consisting of phytase, protease, xylanase, β-glucanase, cellulase, amylase, and pectinase on the parameters of performance, carcass yield and meat quality of broilers. Six hundred broiler chicks were used, and the animals were females with one day of age, from the Cobb 500 strain, and distributed in a completely randomized design, with five levels of inclusion of the enzyme complex (0, 100, 200, 300 and 400g/ton), and six repetitions, with twenty animals each. The weight gain, feed conversion ratio, feed intake and production viability were assessed in stages between 1 to 21, 1 to 35 and 1 to 42 days of age. The carcass yield and meat quality were evaluated at 35 and 42 days of age. We evaluated the characteristics of weight loss by cooking, shear force, water holding capacity, pH, lightness and color. The parameters of performance, carcass yield and carcass parts, and meat quality were not affected by the enzyme supplementation of diets fed to broiler chickens (P>0.05), except for the performance characteristics of the breast and the wings at 42 days of age (P<0.05).

Two experiments were carried in order to determine digestible lysine requirements for free-range broiler hillbilly, Redbro lineage, males and females, created in free range system during the growing (43 to 56) and final phases (57 to 70 days). For this, 630 chickens were housed in 30 pens with pasture area and the experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial arrangement 5x2 (lysine and gender), with three replications with 21 chicks each. The digestible lysine levels evaluated were: 6.07, 7.07, 8.07, 9.07 and 10.07 (growth phase) and 6.00, 7.00, 8.00, 9.00 and 10.00 g/kg (final phase). Were evaluated the performance, the carcass and cuts yield, abdominal fat and meat quality characteristics. For the growth phase there were no differences of lysine levels on performance of the chiks, except for the consumption of digestible lysine. Therefore, the level of 6.07 g lysine /kg of diet meet the requirements of broilers of both genders. For the final phase it we observed effect of digestible lysine levels only to feed conversion, and the level of 8.51 g of lysine/kg of diet improve this trait.

In order of estimating the best relations methionine plus cystine: digestible lysine for quails males during the periods 22 to 28 and 29 to 35 days of age were developed two experiments. The quails received a basal diet deficient in methionine plus cystine, which were supplemented with five levels of DL-Methionine, replacing glutamic acid and starch, resulting in the following relations: 0.68, 0.73, 0.78, 0.83 and 0.88. A total of 280 quails distributed in a completely randomized design, with five treatments and eight replicates of seven quails per experimental unit. Feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion, carcass yield and feathering of quails, composition of the carcass and nitrogen balance were evaluate. During the period from 22 to 28 days of age there was no effect for the variables studied front to relations methionine plus cystine : digestible lysine. During the period 29 to 35 days of age was observed effect on feed intake, methionine + cystine intake and weight gain. At 35 days old was observed effect on the yield of thigh and drumstick, ether extract and crude protein carcass and nitrogen retention. Are recommended that the relations methionine plus cystine : digestible lysine 0.68 and 0.88 over the period 22 to 28 and 29 to 35 days of age, respectively.
