A Study on the Components that Make the Sound of Acceleration in the Virtual Engine of a Car

Sang-Hwi Jee; Won-Hee Lee; Hyung-Woo Park; Myung-Jin Bae

Since the advent of steam-based automobiles for the first time in the 18th century, automotive technology has improved dramatically over the past 100 years. Recently, the 5GA (5G Automotive Association) was launched in time for the 5G era. For the 5Gs, eco-friendly automobiles were named. Currently, most of the automobile market uses internal combustion engines. Internal combustion engine cars have the disadvantage of causing environmental pollution and air pollution. Environmentally-friendly automobiles have been developed to be capable of high-speed driving, and are superior in noise, fuel efficiency and environmental factors compared to vehicles using internal combustion engines. However, there is a disadvantage in that a virtual engine sound is not as full as the richness of an internal combustion engine’s sound during acceleration. Therefore, in this paper, we study the virtual engine sounds that can enhance the feeling of acceleration by controlling the playback speed of a virtual engine sound. Experimental results showed that an engine sound with 4 s playback time adjusted from the engine sound of 1–5 s can enhance the feeling of acceleration the most. An MOS test showed that the virtual engine sound was not much different from the engine sound of an existing engine.

A study on a friendly automobile klaxon production with rhythm

Sang-Hwi Jee; Myung-Sook Kim; Myung-Jin Bae

We are always exposed to traffic noise in our lives. Especially in unproven situations, exposure to a sudden sound may result in loss of auditory cells and exposure to retaliatory driving. However, if you do not use horn sounds, you will not be free from traffic accidents when driving. The Clackson is used as a car horn and has a simple mechanical structure, which is easy to use. However, it has a disadvantage that it can not redesign the sound pressure of fluid sound. In this study, the power supply time width of Clackson was adjusted to five (0.01 s, 0.02 s, 0.03s, 0.06 s, and 0.13 s). The result was a sound level of five (80 dB, 85 dB, 90 dB, 100 dB, and 110 dB) sound levels of the Klaxon. The experimental result shows that the maximum sound pressure (pmax = 110 dB) after operating the clackson is tmax. Ps (dB) = 110 (dB)—{10log (ton / (ton + toff)) + 20log (ton / tmax) The preference was evaluated for five types of Clackson sounds of 5 seconds. The MOS evaluation was performed on 100 participants afte...

On the restoration of Shackleton's voice

Sang-Hwi Jee; Myung-Jin Bae

Shackletons voice, which attempted to explore Antarctica 100 years ago, was vividly restored with voice-processing technology. The restored voice was used as a restoration criterion after restoring the sound quality to a sound quality by applying noise processing technology to the voice of Shackleton who finished the exploration and gave a speech at a university. The basic voices of the voices are similar to those of family members and relatives because of the similarity of the gene structure and the body structure. Using Shackletons great-grandson voices, he restored Shackletons voice by adjusting the rate of speech, intensity, intonation, duration, tone changes, and tone averages as analyzed in Shackletons voice. The subjective evaluation of the restored voice showed a similarity of more than 90% in the spectral SNR compared to the original voice, and when MOS evaluation was performed by the linguistic expert, 4.5 / 5 was obtained and the restoration of the voice of Shackleton was successful respect...

On designing a new sound of the car-horn

Sang-Hwi Jee; Myung-Sook Kim; Myung-Jin Bae

People are exposed to noise from birth to death. Hearing is considered the first human sense to awaken and the earliest to fall asleep. Human auditory sense distinguishes about 400,000 different sounds and classifies them. Noise is generally referred as unwanted sound, and human hearing is especially susceptible to noise. There are many kinds of noise such as household noise, construction site noise, transportation noise, noise between floors, and so on. Transportation noise, in particular, may harm more people since the driver as well as the people on the street are influenced by the noise. This study introduces a new friendly car-horn sound based on drivers preference through a MOS test over five different sounds. The sound has been selected based on characteristics of human auditory sense, the brainwave test, stress-index, and perceptive responses from one hundred subjects who participated in the experiment. The selected sound can be utilized in any motor vehicles available at the market so that not o...

The human voice is easy method in the information transmission. And it also includes variety of information. This voice information includes the means and also includes other information. The voice characteristics are individually depending on utterance speed, pitch tone, vocal organ features and gender. And voice features also include further information such as emotions, health, and aging, etc. that are able to get by analyzing the basic parameter of speech signal. .In modern society, it is important to focus on Received (May 6, 2016), Review Result (May 20, 2016) Accepted (May 27, 2016), Published (July 31, 2016) 156-743 Dept. And, the voice is the factors that determines the first impression between relationship people, that the ratio is around 47%. Confidence in the voice is accompanied by a positive impact of such first impressions change. In this paper, we collect and analyse the voice for confidence people by parameterizing. In addition, we test also MOS in progress. And people are practicing with this parameter extraction and vocalization of the behavioral changes was to get a sense of the confidence voice.
