A Secure Intrusion Detection System with Authentication in Mobile Ad hoc Network

Rakesh Shrestha; Jong-Yeop Sung; SangDuck Lee; Pyung Sik-Yun; Dong-You Choi; Seung Jo Han

MANET brings evolution in Wireless mobile Ad hoc network but it has to face many difficulties due to the dynamic network topologies, lack of centralization, inadequate authentication mechanism, insecure routing and are vulnerable to different types of attacks. Different types of Denial of Service attacks occur in MANET which is one of the major problems. We used AODV routing because it offers quick adaptation to dynamic link conditions, low processing and memory overhead and low network utilization. Moreover secure authentication schemes are used to build a highly secure and available key handling service, which forms the core of our security framework.

Using one-time password based authentication for wireless IP network

Binod Vaidya; SangDuck Lee; Eung-Kon Kim; Seung Jo Han

Wireless IP Networks have gained popularity in ubiquitous environment, providing users mobility and flexibility in accessing information. Existing solutions for wireless LAN networks have been exposed to security vulnerabilities. The further widespread deployment of wireless LANs, however, depends on whether secure networking can be achieved. In this poster, we envisage a simple authentication scheme using one-time password protocol for IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN.

Binod Vaidya; SangDuck Lee; Jae-Kyun Han; Seung Jo Han

Wireless local area networks (WLANs) are quickly becoming ubiquitous in our every day life. The increasing demand for ubiquitous services imposes more security threats to communications due to open mediums in wireless networks. The further widespread deployment of WLANs, however, depends on whether secure networking can be achieved. We propose a simple scheme for implementing authentication based on the One-Time Password (OTP) mechanism. The authentication protocol is proposed to solve the weak authentication and security flaw problem of the WEP in 802.11 WLAN. Further we have simulated the implementation of proposed scheme and EAP-OTP and analyzed the performance in terms of different performance metrics such as response time and authentication delay.

Evaluation of Secure Multimedia Services over Wireless Access Network

Binod Vaidya; SangDuck Lee; Jongan Park; Seung-Jo Han

With growth of Internet and wireless IP network, multimedia systems can be accessed from any-where and anytime. However, efficient real-time services are open and challenging research problem. To implement real-time services such as VoIP over wireless access network, IP header compression scheme can be used for saving bandwidth. Enhanced compressed RTP (ECRTP) has been used for lossy link and high round trip time, primarily for wireless links. In this paper, we present an efficient solution for header compression, which is modified form of ECRTP. It shows an architectural framework for delivering real-time services to the wireless access network while using secure RTP (SRTP). We have conducted simulations to evaluate quality of services (QoS) of audio streaming.

Binod Vaidya; SangDuck Lee; Jongwoo Kim; Seung Jo Han

With the popularity of wireless networks, demand for multimedia services also rises rapidly. However, efficient multimedia services are still challenging research problem due to user mobility, limited resources in wireless devices and expensive radio bandwidth. To implement multimedia services over wireless network, IP header compression scheme can be used for saving bandwidth. In this paper, we present an efficient solution for header compression, which is modified form of ECRTP. It shows an architectural framework adopting modified ECRTP along with SRTP. We have conducted simulation to analyze the effects of different header compression techniques along with SRTP while delivering real-time services to wireless access networks.

Binod Vaidya; SangDuck Lee; Eung-Kon Kim; Seung Jo Han

With the rapid growth and popularity of wireless LANs (WLANs), the development of ubiquitous services is in demand. Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are very attractive for many environments, such as home networking, emergency response scenarios etc. However, real-time voice communication is a critical application for many of these network scenarios. In this paper, we put forward a framework for secure audio streaming over multihop wireless network. And we propose an efficient multipath routing for MANET, while using scalable speech coding and selective encryption in secure RTP. With the simulation results, the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated.

Binod Vaidya; SangDuck Lee; Eung-Kon Kim; Jongan Park; Seung Jo Han

Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are very attractive for many applications. However, media streaming over MANET is quite challenging task. In this paper, we depict a framework for audio streaming over multihop wireless network. And we propose multipath routing for MANET and investigated media streaming using different scalable speech coding techniques. With the simulation results, performance of such a framework is evaluated.
