The purpose of this paper is to revise, extend, update, and apply the lndsales instrument (Churchill 1974) using LISREL 8 techniques. The revised scale was tested in a retail environment, thus extending it beyond the original domain of industrial salespeople. Nomological validity with job involvement and organizational commitment were also tested.

Fisher’s linear discriminant function (LDF) is the most widely used method of discriminant analysis in marketing. Despite LDF’s advantages, Mathematical Programming (MP) approach to discriminant analysis, is a method that has been given considerable attention in recent years. The objective of this paper is to explore the appropriateness of including second order terms in MP models. We performed a Monte Carlo simulation in which the MSD (minimize the sum of the external deviation) model, presented by Ragsdale and Starn (1991), is evaluated with various sets of normal data, both with and without outliers.
