A green and efficient microwave assisted synthesis of elusive tetrakis(diaryltriazenido)diruthenium(II) complexes was carried out under microwave irradiation. It is a simple, clean, and fast method that proceeds with good yield, in contrast with the poor ones reported in previous syntheses.

Variable temperature magnetic measurements of a novel tetranuclear nickel(II) complex, consisting of two pseudo-dinuclear entities bridged by an end-to-end azide, indicate the presence of both intra- and inter-dinuclear ferromagnetic interactions (J1 = 16.48 cm−1 and J2 = 24.17 cm−1, respectively), as also corroborated by DFT calculations (J1 = 12.0 cm−1 and J2 = 29.2 cm−1).

En 1973 fue hallada en la ermita de Santa Eulalia de Portorroibo (Pontes de Garcia Rodriguez, A Coruna) un ara votiva de granito; se trata de un bloque de proporciones relativamente grandes (142 >< 47 X 30 cm.) que conserva la base y la cornisa solamente en la cara posterior, en tanto a los lados y delante la superficie ha quedado lisa. Contiene una inscripcion de buena calidad (lit. 9-8 cm.), pero cuyas dos ultimas lineas son dificiles de leer. La lectura ofrecida por Rivera Rouco’ es la siguiente:

A dinuclear copper(II) complex, [(H2O)Cu(L)(μ1,1-N3)Cu(L)]ClO4 [HL = (2-(2-(ethylamino)ethylimino)methyl)-6-ethoxyphenol] has been synthesized and characterized by spectral and elemental analyses. The structure has been confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Variable temperature (2–300 K) magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate the presence of antiferromagnetic exchange coupling between the copper(II) centers (J = −46.18 cm−1), as also corroborated by DFT calculations (Jtheo = −45.98 cm−1). The calculated spin densities at the copper(II) centers were +0.56 and −0.61, confirming that they are the magnetic centers. An experimental absorption spectrum of the complex has been compared with a normalized absorption spectrum obtained theoretically. Supramolecular interactions in the solid state of the complex have also been characterized with the help of Hirshfeld analysis and the AIM theory.

El prodigio de Munda (45 a.C.), la palmera que una vez cortada se regeneraba con mayor vigor superando el retono en altura al tronco-madre talado y en la que nidifican palomas, es conocido a traves de Suetonio y Dion Casio. Se analiza en la presente contribucion las diferentes propuestas de interpretacion y se propone el significado del arbol como simbolo de continuidad dinastica y el de las palomas como expresion de la descendencia, por parte de los Julio-Claudios, de la diosa Venus.

In the title compound, {[Ni(C10H8N4)2(H2O)2]I2·2C2H5OH}n, the complex shows an octahedral environment of the Ni2+ cation in which it is located on a centre of symmetry, linked to two water molecules and the pyridine-N atoms of four 4,4′-(diazenediyl)dipyridine ligands bridging Ni2+ cations along the b- and c-axis directions, giving rise to a two-dimensional arrangement. The Ni—N bond lengths are in the range 2.109 (4)–2.186 (3) Å and the Ni—O bond length is 2.080 (3) Å. The 4,4′-(diazenediyl)dipyridine ligand lies on an inversion centre. An O—H⋯O hydrogen-bond interaction is observed between water and ethanol molecules. The I− ions can be regarded as free anions in the crystal lattice.
