Mesomorphism of a tetrahedral zinc complex

Raquel Giménez; Ana Belén Manrique; Santiago Uriel; Joaquín Barberá; José Luis Serrano

Thermotropic smectic phases have been observed for the first time in a zinc coordination complex with tetrahedral geometry; this complex, which contains the pyrazole dimer bis[3,5-bis(p-decyloxyphenyl)pyrazolyl]ethane as the ligand, exhibits fluorescence.

Tetrahedron | 1992

The synthesis of primary, secondary and tertiary aminomethyltetrathiafulvalenes

J.M. Fabre; Javier Garín; Santiago Uriel

Abstract The title compounds have been prepared in one or two steps, either formyltetrathiafulvalene or tetrathiafulvalenyllithium as starting materials.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1991

The first aminomethyl TTF derivatives: new donors for synthetic metals

J.M. Fabre; Javier Garín; Santiago Uriel

Abstract The reaction of Tetrahiafulvalenyllithium with Eschenmosers salts is reported for the first time. It allows the synthesis of the title compounds in one step.

Synthetic Metals | 1995

Generation of radicals and formation of conducting materials by protic doping of tetrahiafulvalenes

Michel Giffard; Alain Gorgues; Amédée Riou; Jean Roncali; Pablo J. Alonso; Santiago Uriel; Javier Garín; T.P. Nguyen

Abstract Conducting materials have been obtained by protonation of TTFs. 1 H NMR and ESR spectroscopies indicate that radicals are at the origin of the observed conductivity.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1991

On the reaction of anthranilic acid with thionyl chloride : the actual structure of Kametani's sulfinamide anhydride

Javier Garín; Pedro Merino; Jesús Orduna; Tomás Tejero; Santiago Uriel

Abstract Despite previous reports, no sulfinamide anhydride is formed from the reaction of anthranilic acid with thionyl chloride, the actual product being 2-sulfinylaminobenzoyl chloride. this excludes iminoketene formation in the reactions of this activated form of anthranilic acid.

Synthetic Metals | 1993

Synthesis and study of aminomethyltetrathiafulvalene derivatives and their charge-transfer complexes

Pablo J. Alonso; Javier Garín; Jesús Orduna; Santiago Uriel; J.M. Fabre

Abstract The synthesis of tertiary aminomethyltetrathiafulvalenes is reported. These new donors have been prepared in one step using tetrathiafulvalene as starting material,, and they have been characterized spectroscopically and electrochemically. Some of their charge-transfer complexes have been synthesized and studied. Conductivity, degree of charge-transfer and spectroscopic data are reported. The variation of their EPR parameters with temperature is also discussed.

Structural optimization of giant analogues of TTF: towards improvement of the solid-state properties in the related, materials

Santiago Uriel; Vincent Morisson; M. SaIIe; Pierre Frère; Ahmed Belyasmine; Alain Gorgues; M. Jubault; Patrick Batail; Kamal Boubekeur; Jesús Orduna; Javier Garín

Abstract 2,3- bis (1,4- dithiafulven-6-yl) TTF or TSF I and III, or their vinylogues II are synthesized. As expected, thanks to their space extension and S- rich character, they behave as good π-donors to reach cation radical salts of inhanced dimensionality.

Synthesis | 1994

Improved syntheses of carboxytetrathiafulvalene, formyltetrathiafulvalene and (hydroxymethyl)tetrathiafulvalene : versatile building blocks for new functionalised tetrathiafulvalene derivatives

Javier Garín; Jesús Orduna; Santiago Uriel; Adrian J. Moore; Martin R. Bryce; Stefan Wegener; Dimitri S. Yufit; Judith Howard

Advanced Materials | 1994

The first evidence for the generation of radicals and formation of electrically conducting molecular materials by protic doping of tetrathiafulvalenes

Michel Giffard; Pablo J. Alonso; Javier Garín; Alain Gorgues; Thien Phap Nguyen; Pascal Richomme; Albert Robert; Jean Roncali; Santiago Uriel

Synthesis | 1991
