Introduction The mighty mahseers (Tor spp) are cold water fishes and acclaimed as famous sport and food fishes of India1. It is known as tiger in rivers, because of the fight it musters to wriggle off the hook during catch. In the past, mahseer formed a substantial natural fishery in the major riverine and lacustrine ecosystems of India2. For the fishermen, mahseer is of considerable importance due to its large size. As an edible fish, it is highly esteemed and fetches abstract This paper is about the study on biology of Mahanadi Mahseer, Tor mosal mahanadicus (David) reared with Indian Major Carps (IMC) in Freshwater Pond Culture System conducted at ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar. The study focused on biological parameters, i.e., food and feeding habits; maturity; and length and weight relationship of Mahanadi mahseer, Tor mosal mahanadicus, a fish species under endangered group reared with IMCs such as Catla catla (Catla), Labeo rohita (Rohu) and Cirrhinus mrigala (Mrigal) in pond culture system. The fish was found to be omnivore and benthic feeder, and was acclimatized to pond culture condition and reared with supplementary feed such as rice bran and ground nut oil cake. In two years of pond rearing, male fish attended maturity and milting was recorded at an average size of 228 ± 11.36 mm length and 110 ± 6.61 g weight. Female fish attained early vitellogenic stage having primary vitellogenic oocytes in their ovaries at an average fish size of 287 ± 31.0 mm length and 224 ± 15.6 g weight. Length weight relationship of the fish in pond culture system reared from fry stage to adults was W= 0.0001339 L 2.4301 or log W = -3.8733 + 2.4301 log L and from fingerling stage to adults was W= 0.0000633 L 2.5920 or log W = -4.1986 + 2.5920 log L. article history

Nippostrongylus brasiliensis is a natural parasite of rat, closely related to human hookworm. Experimental host in which the parasite will attain sexual maturity include mouse, hamster, rabbit, chinchilla and to lesser extend in a cotton rat. The parasite does not occur naturally in laboratory rodents and its primary importance is as a model of immunology, host parasite interaction and anthelmintic testing.

In AIDS patients, the main opportunistic infections are related to intracellular agents like P. carinii, cytomegalovirus, C. albicans, M. tuberculosis and criptosporidium. As in HIV infection, memory B lymphocytes keep functioning, antibodies are produced and the protection mechanism against extracellular agents does not experience large scale damage. However, this lack of greater susceptibility to extracellular bacterial infections observed in AIDS patients is observed in adults where the repertory of B-cell produced antibodies depending on T-cells had already formed prior to HIV infection. In infected children, as the alteration of TCD4+ cell functioning is premature, cellular cooperation is damaged with abnormalities also occurring in the synthesis of antibodies. Infections by extracellular bacteria are common in HIV-infected children.

Any disease condition of udder and teats not only causes painful milking but also makes udder and teats prone to mastitis. Congenital and acquired surgical conditions of udder and teats can be grouped into the conditions of epithelial surface of udder and teats, conditions of glands and tea cistern or canal and conditions of teat sphincter. The diseases of udder can be congenital anomalies are known at the time of first calving but acquired anomalies can affect any stage of lactation. Surgical conditions of udder and teats are getting much attention now a day as these affects the economy of the farmer. Milk alone contributes around 63% to the total output from livestock. The udder and teats are vulnerable to external trauma or injury because of their anatomical location, increase in size of udder and teats during lactation, faulty methods of milking, repeated trauma to the teat mucosa, injury by teeth of calf, unintentionally stepped on teat, paralysis resulting from metabolic disturbances at parturition. The present paper describes the case of deposition of milk stone in the udder of a Red Sindhi cow and its successful management along with removal of coagulative milk stone via surgical interventions.
