Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari kapasitas dan mekanisme proses adsorpsi Ni(II) pada kitosan sulfat. Variabel yang dipelajari adalah pengaruh konsentrasi ion logam Ni(II) terhadap kemampuan adsorpsi kitosan sulfat dan desorpsi fraksinasi sequensial terhadap Ni(II) yang sudah teradsopsi untuk mengetahui mekanisme adsorpsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adsorpsi ion Ni(II) pada kitosan dan kitosan sulfat berlangsung secara kimia dengan energi adsorpsi sebesar 27,85- 34,48 kJ/mol. Kapasitas adsorption ion logam Ni(II) untuk kitosan dalam medium air dan ammonium sulfat 0,1 M adalah 10,72.10 -5 mol/g dan 15,26.10 -5 mol/g, sedangkan untuk adsorben kitosan-sulfat dalam medium amonium sufat 0,1M adalah 19,25.10 -5 mol/g. Proses adsorpsi Ni(II) pada kitosan sulfat medium amonium sulfat mempunyai kapasitas adsorpsi yang paling besar dan interaksi didominasi oleh perbentukan kompleks. The adsorption of Cu(II) metal ion onto chitosan nano‐ bead is studied in this paper. Parameters investigated in this work such as medium of pH, adsorption rate (k1), energies (E) and capacity of adsorption (b). The kinetic model of first order reaching equilibrium and pseudo order 2nd Ho adsorption were applied to estimate the adsorption rate, whereas the isotherm adsorption Langmuir and Freundlich models were employed in the determination of the energy and the capacity in adsorption. The results showed that the optimum pH of adsorption Cu(II) metal ion on chitosan bead was 5. Cu(II) metal ion uptake on chitosan bead tend followed the Langmuir isotherm adsorption model. Adsorption capacity Cu(II) metal ion for the chitosan bead was 26.60.10−4 mole/g. Adsorption Cu(II) ion on chitosan bead tend followed kinetic model of first order adsorption reaching equilibrium. Adsorption rate Cu(II) metal ion on the chitosan bead was 19.16.10−3 min−1.
