Collection of wireless nodes like mobile, laptops, palmtops etc. can creates a dynamic wireless network without using any existing infrastructure known as Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET). MANET performs peer to peer interactions among the wireless nodes participating in the network. Each node in the network must be able to function as a router as well to relay the packets generated by other nodes. Due to the mobility of nodes network topology changes frequently and the topology changes information must update every time to all the nodes in the network. Limited bandwidth and transmission characteristic impose administrative and control information to update the dynamic charge in the network topology, due to the mobility of the wireless nodes. Information update at some fixed time interval can cause unnecessary traffic in the wireless network so to make adaptive the time interval of these messages is a technique to improve the performance of the network. In this paper a soft computing technique Artificial Neural Network based reactive AODV routing protocol is proposed to determine the frequency of hello interval to improve the performance of the network.

PurposeDry eye syndrome (DES) causes significant morbidity. Trials of blood-derived products in treatment of the condition show promising results. However, their production is expensive and time-consuming. We investigate fingerprick autologous blood (FAB) as an alternative low-cost, readily accessible treatment for DES.Patients and methodsProspective, non-comparative, interventional case series. In total, 29 eyes of 16 DES patients (2 males and 14 females) from two NHS sites in the United Kingdom. Patients instructed to clean a finger, prick with a blood lancet, and apply a drop of blood to the lower fornix of the affected eye(s), 4 times daily for 8 weeks then stop and review 4 weeks later. Follow-up visits occurred ~3 days, 2, 4, 8 weeks into therapy, and 4 weeks post-cessation. At each visit, visual acuity, corneal staining, Schirmer’s test, tear break-up time (TBUT), and ocular comfort index (OCI) were measured, and photographs taken. Results were analysed using Student’s paired t-test.ResultsAt 8 weeks, there was improvement in mean Oxford corneal staining grade (3.31 to 2.07 (P<0.0001)), TBUT (5.00 to 7.80 s (P<0.05)), visual acuity (0.08 to 0.01 LogMAR equivalent (P<0.05)), and OCI score (56.03 to 39.72 (P<0.0001)). There was no statistically significant change in Schirmer’s test results. Four weeks post-cessation versus immediately after completion of FAB therapy, mean staining grade worsened from 2.07 to 2.86 (P<0.0001). OCI score worsened from 39.72 to 44.67 (P<0.05).ConclusionsIn our limited case series FAB appears to be a safe and effective treatment for DES.

Speed Controller design via sliding mode control approach of induction motor with different sliding surface and with different speed control approaches of Induction motor are reviewed and presented. DSP based Sliding mode controller implementation approaches are also discussed. Sliding Mode control approach based designed controller provides robust performance with parameter variations and load variations. Different sliding surfaces and control laws based on equivalent control and switching control are reviewed and presented. Conventional design of controller block, total sliding mode control, observer based sliding mode design methods are presented and discussed. This survey paper is supported by the SIMULINK-MATLAB Simulation with one of the sliding surface and equivalent control based Sliding mode controller and Conventional P-I controller for the performance analysis of speed controller for d-q Model of Induction Motor.

The novel and robust seeded region grow segmentation technique is implemented for spot detection in Computerized Tomography scan image. Segmentation of scanned medical image is quite difficult task due to presence of speckle noise. The grey scale image is segmented into regions, with each region having closest seed correlation. The algorithm is rapid, free of tuning parameters and pixel order dependent. Experimental performance evaluation through manual seed selection demonstrates accurate and efficient segmentation results for chest scan image.

Abstract This paper presents an optimal technique for image compression by which one can achieve maximal storage and transmission capabilities. Realizing image compression hardware into a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) reduces the implementation cost as well as the prototyping and design time cycle. Aggressive algorithm to architecture mapping of a Quad Tree based image compression method produces a fast, compact pipelined design. Mapped into a Xilinx Spartan II, XC200S-5PQ208 FPGA, this design utilizes as much as half the resources that other algorithms such as Discrete Cosine Transform and Wavelet Transform use. Performance of this implementation exceeds those of similar and or greater resource size, and allows for real-time image compression of an image up to 256 pixels by 256 pixels at 256 levels of gray. It is found that the algorithm provides a high compression ratio ranging between 0.12 and 0.68.

This paper presents real time implementation of DSP based PWM control algorithm for 3 phase 4-leg IGBT voltage source inverter. This method is also useful for application in voltage source inverters for adjustable-speed ac drives. PWM method is used to reduce the harmonic content in the output voltage applied to induction motor. The pulses were generated using Texas Instruments TMS 320F28335 DSP controller and that triggers the inverter. Results of input and output of the inverter were captured using Digital Storage Oscilloscope. The performance of DSP architecture allows an approach to reduce the complete system costs of digital motion control applications.

This paper details about the performance of the GTS allocation mechanism in IEEE 802.15.4. The analysis gives a full understanding of the behavior of the GTS mechanism with regards to Throughput and Wasted Bandwidth due to IFS. The impact of IEEE 802.15.4 parameters on the Wasted Bandwidth of a GTS allocation is analyzed which pave the way for an efficient dimensioning of an IEEE 802.15.4 cluster. The Proposed Scheme is focused to reduce the underutilization of Bandwidth and hence can be used to optimize the GTS Throughput.

Image transformation is one of the important digital image processing techniques widely used in medical science. Typical applications of image transformation include creation of three dimensional volumetric models from two dimensional images. The two dimension images may be obtained energy source used for hard tissue imaging are x-rays. The three dimension models of hard tissue are created by traditional tomography using CT scans. Since scanners are very expensive they are not easily available at most of health care centers. The algorithm presented in the paper is based on two dimensional image data of hard tissues obtained from basic x-rays equipments. It is unique in context of data gathering collected via arbitrary path to impart maximum flexibility for three dimensional models compared to some other approaches. A series of experiments performed with various data sets validates claim MATLAB® platform is used for implementation.
