Retrieving tsunami digital library by use of mobile phones

Sayaka Imai; Yoshinari Kanamori; Nobuo Shuto

We are developing a Tsunami Digital Library (TDL) which can store and manage documents about tsunami, tsunami run up simulations, newspaper articles, fieldwork data, etc. In this paper, we propose a public education against the tsunami disaster mitigation as one of TDL applications. For the education, we use mobile phones to retrieve TDL because we have to walk coast regions. Then, we have prepared summaries of documents and newspaper articles in TDL, and also developed query systems for mobile phone retrievals.

Motion Simulation of the Human Workers for the Integrated Computer-Aided Manufacturing Process Simulation Based on Info-Ergonomics Concept

Sayaka Imai; Takashi Tomii; Hiroshi Arisawa

This paper presents modeling of Working Process and Working Simulation in factory works. Also a concept for Mediator-based human body/motion modelin for application to Info-Ergomomics is offered. In Manufacturing Process Design, many simulations are executed in order to improve efficiency of designer’s work. But in many cases they are focusing on simulating and evaluating machines’ performance. In the present paper we will propose Info-Ergonomics, and Working Simulation by using CG. Also, we consider it as a possible way for unifying all the data used in various applications (CAD/CAM, etc) during the design process and evaluating all subsystems in a virtual Factory.

An Implementation Design of a Fine-Grained Database Access Control Policy Consistency Checking Mechanism

Bat Odon Purevjii; Masayoshi Aritsugi; Sayaka Imai; Yoshinari Kanamori

Policy consistency checker is an essential part of database access control systems. Realizing checking mechanisms for policy inconsistencies is a non-trivial task due to large amounts of rules and various kinds of rule patterns on fine-grained database objects and complicated interrelationships among those rules. We propose a novel rule-based mechanism for checking fine-grained access control policy inconsistencies for relational databases. In particular, we present necessary concepts and implementation design of the inconsistency checking mechanism. We specify policies, with conditions, on fine-grained objects through if-then authorization rules. We compute rule inconsistencies by employing the java-based open-source rule engine Jess.

Protecting personal data with various granularities: a logic-based access control approach

Bat Odon Purevjii; Masayoshi Aritsugi; Sayaka Imai; Yoshinari Kanamori; Cherri M. Pancake

In this paper, we present a rule-based approach to fine-grained data-dependent access control for database systems. Authorization rules in this framework are described in a logical language that allows us to specify policies systematically and easily. The language expresses authorization rules based on the values, types, and semantics of data elements common to the relational data model. We demonstrate the applicability of our approach by describing several data-dependent policies using an example drawn from a medical information system.

Tsunami digital library

Sayaka Imai; Yoshinari Kanamori; Nobuo Shuto

In this paper, we present our Tsunami Digital Library (TDL) which can store and manage documents about the Tsunami, Tsunami run up simulation, newspaper articles, fieldwork data, etc. We offer a multilingual interface. Currently some documents and explanations of the Tsunami videos have been translated into English and French. We are convinced that TDL will support many people who want to mitigate the Tsunami disaster and to plan countermeasures against the Tsunami.

Model-based Human Motion Description in Ergonomic Database Application

Sayaka Imai; Yoshinari Kanamori

This paper presents a modeling method of human motion for the purpose of constructing a human body/structure/motion database. Various representation methods of the human body and of its motions are used in Computer Graphics, Virtual Reality, etc. Furthermore, measuring and analyzing methods of human motion using for instance 3D digitizers, high resolution video cameras are presented in many fields such as rehabilitation, ergonomic design and production planning. Besides, many new applications that can analyze the human motion from a medical point of view are available. In the future of these fields, we consider that a database system which can manage various human data and support flexible query operations is needed. In order to compare a new captured human body/structure/motion data with another human data in a computer system, the data need to be unified and to correspond to semantics. We focused on the modeling of human motion by including an example motion, describing its actual motion and semantically associating the example with the motion. In fact, in a previous work, we defined the concept of Hub which represents an example motion. We also defined the concept of Mediator which not only represents the individual motion characteristics but also associates the Hub with the real human motion data detected from multimedia such as videos. To extend our previous work, we now consider the notion of order in the sequences of the human motion. In that we introduce the concepts of Atomic Unit and Motion Graph. These concepts allow us to analyze human motions and to compare their sequences. Indeed they are a good way to unify data from various applications.

Model-Based Description of Human Body Motions for Ergonomics Evaluation

Sayaka Imai

This paper presents modeling of Working Process and Working Simulation factory works. I focus on an example work (motion), its actual work(motion) and reference between them. An example work and its actual work can be analyzed and described as a sequence of atomic action. In order to describe workers’ motion, some concepts of Atomic Unit, Model Events and Mediator are introduced. By using these concepts, we can analyze a workers’ action and evaluate their works. Also, we consider it as a possible way for unifying all the data used in various applications (CAD/CAM, etc) during the design process and evaluating all subsystems in a virtual Factory.
