Rapid Prototyping of Constraint-Based Production Flows in Outsourcing

Sebastian Saniuk; Anna Saniuk

In this publication a problem of production order planning is considered. The concept of a critical resource and a critical process, a constraint-based approach has been proposed. The question considered regards of an admissible production flow organization-guaranteeing completion of the production order under assumed limits, while taking into account the logistics constraints imposed. In that context the approach proposed can be seen as one following the Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints (TOC).

Implementation of CSR concept in manufacturing SMEs

Justyna Szczanowicz; Sebastian Saniuk

Summary This article constitutes an attempt to propose a concept model for the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility in small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises. Poor CSR awareness and implementation across the SME sector is presented and discussed on the basis of research carried out by Polish Agency for Enterprise Development. The article recommends approach where the hierarchy of different levels of Corporate Social Responsibility forms the fundament upon which the company builds its competitive advantage. Attention is also drowned to the development of practices important from the point of view of key stakeholders in order to increase the effectiveness of CSR activities which are seen as instrumental in enhancing the competitiveness of the whole enterprises.

Material Demand Forecasting: An ERP System Perspective

Marcin Relich; Krzysztof Witkowski; Sebastian Saniuk; Jana Šujanová

This paper investigates various problems associated with the parameter specification for material requirements planning (MRP) in a typical ERP system. The choice of a suitable MRP procedure and its parameters can reduce excessive quantities of materials and, consequently, cost. The proposed approach is dedicated for MRP procedure based on the forecasting of material demand and inventory that can be obtained with the use of techniques for nonlinear function identification, such as fuzzy-neural system and neural networks. An example is presented which compares the different forecasting models for material demand and inventory.

Modeling Transportation Preferences of Urban Residents: The Case of Poland

Katarzyna Cheba; Maja Kiba-Janiak; Sebastian Saniuk; Krzysztof Witkowski

The paper presents the application of selected methods of multivariate statistical analysis including factor and conjoint analyses in terms of modeling transportation preferences of urban residents. The introduced methodologies can be useful tools for local authorities while designing solutions in order to improve the competitiveness of public transport to private transport. The results of the studies presented in the article are part of the research project implemented in 2010–2013 under a title. “Reference model of city logistics and the quality of life”. For the study undertaken in this paper, three medium-sized cities, located in the western part of Poland, were selected.

Anna Saniuk; Sebastian Saniuk; Małgorzata Jasiulewicz-Kaczmarek; Paweł Kużdowicz

The global crisis has resulted in a strong need to change the enterprise philosophy. It is observed the importance of a well-thought strategy as a key prerequisite for contemporary enterprise business success. It should include a very good idea which helps to gain a competitive advantage in the market in the future, and also it has to be implemented very quickly. Therefore, efficiency control plays a significant role in industry enterprises. In this paper the new method of efficiency control dedicated for industrial enterprises which have make-to-order manufacturing (MTO) is presented. MTO companies produce bespoke and customized products to particular customer specifications but not repeated on a regular basis. The main goal of this paper is to connect the strategy implementation process with the production order acceptance process, which can increase the efficiency of strategy realization in make-to-order manufacturing.

Decision Support System for Rapid Production Order Planning in Production Network

Sebastian Saniuk; Anna Saniuk

Today the functioning of small and medium enterprises in production networks gives many opportunities for businesses, but also raises some concern and requires solutions to many problems. The process of forming the network of enterprises is dependent on the degree of preparation of these companies to share their resources, the possibility of estimating the related costs and the rapid planning jointly implemented projects. The aim of the article is to present a prototype decision support system for rapid production order planning in production network. The proposed tool can be helpful in the development of the concept of Industry 4.0. In particular, the article is presented the way the selection of partners to the network and load the productive resources to the needs of the timely implementation of the new order. The proposed approach and its computer implementation allow the permissible variations of network in condition of cost, resource and logistics system constraints to be determined.

A Company Level Performance Measurement through the Evaluation of Production Processes Performance

Matej Daňo; Natália Horňáková; Helena Vidová; Sebastian Saniuk

The presented paper is aimed at assessing the level of performance through an industrial company endpoints indicators, in which the efficiency and performance of business processes is transformed to. The paper describes the concept of company performance based on theoretical knowledge of authors from Slovakia as well as developed economies. It also provides concrete examples of financial and non-financial indicators and informs professionals and general public with a number of additional indicators. Likewise the paper characterizes most famous concepts of measurement and management of company performance based on results of a survey which was conducted by the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management MTF STU in Trnava, as a part of the research project VEGA No. 1/0787 / 12th. Authors attach great importance to measure the process performance as an important part of performance measurement of an industrial company. They introduce the procedures for measuring the manufacturing processes, whole range of specific performance indicators of production processes as well as different methods of measuring the performance of production processes and the company as a whole unit. The level of significance is designed for each proposed indicator and measurement result consists of value reflecting the overall company performance (various departments), which can be used as a benchmark for individual departments or plants within a particular multinational group.
