Purpose – The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of organizational climate and trust (TR) on knowledge-sharing (KS) behaviour in selected multinational firms in an emerging market – Malaysia. Two dimensions of KS – knowledge collecting (KC) and knowledge donating (KD) – were separately studied for this research. Design/methodology/approach – Survey data were collected from 231 participants from 25 multinational firms. Multivariate analysis was used to assess the research model. Findings – The research findings indicate that organizational climate dimension, affiliation, is positively related to both KD and KC, while fairness dimensions of organizational climate are not positively related to KD and KC. Among the two dimensions of TR (cognitive and affective), it was found that cognitive TR is positively related to KD, while affective TR is positively related to KC. Knowledge sharing is deemed to be important for organisation as it helps to bring much benefits to the organisation, such as enhancing ones creativity. Knowledge sharing behaviour (KSB) is highly subjective and it depends on ones willingness to participate in such behaviour. Prior research has indicated that a persons emotional intelligence (EI) affects ones ability to share their knowledge and through knowledge sharing it helps to increase creativity in workplace. Despite such claims had been made by researchers, yet there is very little empirical examination has been conducted to examine the link between EI and perceived creativity through KSB. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of KSB as a mediator between EI and creativity. A survey was conducted and obtained a total of 176 valid respondents from 20 MNCs in Klang Valley. Multiple linear regression analyses were used to analyse the hypotheses. The results indicate that KSB mediates the relationship between EI and creativity. The results also indicate that EI plays an important role in influencing ones willingness to share his or her knowledge.

This paper provides a general overview of an international collaboration project conducted in an international business module at a private Malaysian university. The international collaboration project is designed to provide students with an experience in working on a cross-cultural virtual team. This study employs a case study which consisted of 34 Malaysian students and the main instrument used in this study is the students’ reflective reports. Based on the reflective reports, the paper discusses the challenges and the synergistic experiences faced by the students. In general, students find it interesting to work in this project; on the other hand, students also felt that it is difficult to communicate with others as well as getting the project ready on time. The paper also highlights the benefit of working in this project and some recommendations to academics who wish to embark on such activity in class.

Despite the fact that knowledge sharing has been deemed as a competitive advantage and business sustainability tools for organizations, however many researcher has underpinned the deleterious impact knowledge sharing can bring forth to an organization performance. To date, it is found that minimal empirical research has been devoted to the dark side of knowledge sharing activities. Thus, this present study aims to extend this aspect specifically on pseudo knowledge sharing (PKS). The present study was setup to investigate the influence of trust (both cognitive and affective based trust in colleagues), and Guanxi orientation (GXO) towards PKS. A survey was adopted to examine on the developed research framework of this present study. The survey is completed by 264 employees from 32 multimedia super corridor (MSC) status companies within Klang Valley. MSC status organizations are given to firms that have strong focus on information communication technology (ICT) in producing or delivering its product or services. Regression analysis was used to examine the research framework. The correlation analysis reveals that there is significant negative relationship for both affective and cognitive based trust on PKS. In the same analysis, GXO also posited a significant negative impact towards PKS.
