Otopside, sa¤ temporal bölgede bitiflik at›fl bulgular› gösteren ateflli silah yaras›, sa¤ temporal kemi¤in skuamöz parças›nda k›r›klar, epidural ve subaraknoidal kanama, sa¤ temporal lobta kontüzyon tespit edildi.

This paper analyzes the use of instructional podcasts with students in introductory computer application classes at a small, independent, private university. Participants were all undergraduates in the school of education. In an effort to model effective use of instructional technology for preservice teachers and to “meet digital native students where they live,” the course instructor created podcasts to augment class instruction and create a 21st century learning environment. Focus groups were conducted to capture students’ perceptions of these supplemental podcasts. Surprisingly, the majority of these digital native participants reported that instructional podcasts were not beneficial to them because of their lack of time, lack of familiarity with the technology, resistance to using instructional technologies, preference for face-to-face instruction and reluctance to make the time

PURPOSE The pathophysiology of pelviureteral junction obstruction remains unclear. In this study, we attempted to evaluate the neuronal dysfunction using immunohistochemical and morphometric parameters. MATERIALS AND METHODS Using specific antibodies, we studied the neuronal markers and morphometry of specimens from 10 cases of pelviureteral junction obstruction and 10 normal pelviureteral junctions by immunohistochemistry using synaptophysin (synaptic vesicle membrane protein), S-100 (nerve cell fiber marker), protein gene product 9.5 (neuron specific protein) and CD-117 (transmembrane receptor with tyrosine kinase activity). RESULTS In pelviureteral junction obstruction, smooth muscle thickness was significantly higher than in normal specimens. Cytoplasmic cells stained by synaptophysin were found in the pelviureteral junction obstruction specimens but were absent in normal pelviureteral junction specimens. In addition, significantly more intense staining for S-100 was found in the pelviureteral junction obstruction specimens compared with the normal specimens. Immunohistochemical staining for protein gene product 9.5 showed no differences between the normal and pelviureteral junction obstruction specimens. Neither the normal specimens nor pelviureteral junction obstruction groups were stained by CD-117. CONCLUSION We propose that the cause of neuronal dysfunction in pelviureteral junction obstruction depends on the increase in number and structure of neuronal cells and smooth muscle thickness. These factors could play an important role in the pathophysiology of pelviureteral junction obstruction by affecting motility and peristalsis.

Olgular›n 25’inde (%78.1) ölümün do¤al nedenlerden meydana geldi¤i, do¤al nedenli ölümler içerisinde enfeksiyonlar›n 9 (%36.0) olgu ile ilk s›rada bulundu¤u belirlendi. Yaz›da herhangi bir suç/suç iddias› nedeniyle cezaevinde bulunan tutuklu ve hükümlülerin cezaevine giriflte ve sonras›nda yap›lacak periyodik muayeneleri ile tedavi gerektiren önemli bir hastal›¤› tespit edilen olgular›n, cezaevi yerine hastanelere yönlendirilmesinin uygun olaca¤› hususuna dikkat çekildi. After femur, tibia is the most reliable bone for stature estimation. While examining skeletal remains for medico legal purposes, in some cases, only fragment of the tibia may be available which poses a problem for the forensic experts to estimate stature. In this study, we examined 50 intact tibial bones to calculate the relationship between the total length and various segments. Eight different points are identified as reference points on the tibia and from these points, 27 segments are identified. For each segment individual regression formula is derived using linear regression analysis. By using the linear regression formulae, total length of the tibia can be estimated if a specific segment of the tibia is available. We can use the total length of tibia derived in any of the stature formulae and complete stature can be estimated.

Bite is a type of wound created with animal or human teeth. Bite wounds created by humans are encountered in situations as fighting, rape, murder and child abuse. Bite marks are usually observed on arms, neck, breasts, body, cheeks and legs. The teeth may penetrate to skin on the areas where bone or cartilage tissue lies underneath skin, and tissue loss may occur. Auricles are most frequent regions that occur tissue loss with bites. Finger amputation occurring with human bite is extremely rare. The case presented in this paper is a 28 years old man. In his medical history, the 3rd finger of his left hand was bitten during a fight two months ago. One centimeter shortness at the end point of the distal phalanx of the left 3rd finger because of tissue loss was found in the examination. In his left hand radiograph, bone defect at the middle part of the distal phalanx of 3rd finger was determined. The case has been discussed by comparing similar cases rarely reported in the literature.
