Sonographic diagnosis of the ruptured hydatid cyst of the kidney

Abstract. The clinical and radiological features of one case of renal hydatid disease communicating with collecting system are described. Introduction of hydatid elements into the renal pelvis due to rupture was accompanied by six episodes of renal colic. Although the sonographic features of renal hydatid disease have been described extensively, direct demonstration by ultrasonography of hydatid cyst ruptured into the renal pelvis has not, to our knowledge, been previously reported. The diagnosis has also been confirmed at surgery.

Preoperative assessment of myometrial and cervical invasion in endometrial carcinoma: comparison of multi-section dynamic MR imaging using a three dimensional FLASH technique and T2-weighted MR imaging.

Introduction: We aimed to show the diagnostic performance of magnetic resonance imaging by comparing T2‐weighted images and dynamic 3D MR images in the assessment of myometrial and cervical invasion by endometrial carcinoma.

Dual ectopic thyroid

Abstract Ectopic thyroid tissue can be found anywhere from foramen cecum and the normal cervical position of the thyroid gland. It occurs most commonly at the base of tongue, known as lingual, followed by sublingual and the anterior midline of neck. We present the patient with dual ectopic thyroid, one of them is at the base of tongue and the other is in the left submandibular region. The purpose of this report is to demonstrate the findings of ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and scintigraphy and to emphasize the importance of performing a thyroid scan in every case of thyroid ectopia to accurately identify all sites of functioning thyroid tissue.
