Directly diode-pumped femtosecond Cr 4+ :YAG laser

In this work we demonstrate the first passive modelocking of a directly diode-pumped Cr4+:YAG laser with semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) as a starting mechanism generating stable near transform-limited pulses at down to 62 fs pulse duration at 15 mW output power.

Spectral broadening and shift of the few optical cycle pulses in Cr 4+ :YAG laser

Spectral characteristics of the few optical cycle pulses in Cr4+:YAG laser were investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Spectral extra-broadening (up to 400 nm) and red-shift (up to 100 nm) were observed and explained.

Kerr-lens mode-locked diode-pumped Cr4+:YAG laser

We report the first directly diode-pumped prismless Kerr-lens mode-locked Cr4+:YAG laser generating 65 fs near transform-limited pulses at 30 mW average output power with a repetition rate of 100 MHz centred around 1569 nm.

Actively mode-locked directly diode-pumped CW room-temperature Cr/sup 4+/:YAG laser

Summary form only given. Cr/sup 4+/-doped crystals attract attention of researchers since late 80s due to their capability to operate at wavelength around 1.5 /spl mu/m and produce broadly tunable ultrashort pulses. Compact actively mode-locked sources of tunable picosecond pulses are especially interesting for testing fibers in telecommunications. We report, what is to our knowledge the first demonstration of the acousto-optical CW mode-locking of the directly diode-pumped Cr/sup 4+/:YAG laser at room temperature.
