A novel low profile and dual-band antenna for the frequency band of T-DMB (terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting) and UHF (ultra high frequency) applications are presented. By folding an inverted-L antenna with open stubs, the low profile and dual band property are achieved. To operate over T-DMB (180-210 MHz) and UHF (470-810 MHz) frequency bands, the impedance matching with two open stubs is used for the proposed antenna. Radiation patterns are omni-directional for all frequency bands. Details of the proposed antenna as well as the measured results are presented

A novel low-profile metal-plate monopole antenna with system ground for DTV signal reception in the UHF band is proposed. The monopole antenna is easily constructed by a folded rectangular patch with two slits, and has a compact size of 65 times 25 times 5 mm3. The ground plane of this antenna is made of FR-4 substrate (thickness of 0.8 mm). The measured return loss for the operating frequencies over the DTV band (465-850 MHz) is better than -10 dB and maximum radiation gain is 4.5 dBi. The geometrical parameters and the experimental results of the proposed antenna are discussed.

Abstract— A novel low profile metal plate monopole antenna with L-shape silts for mobile handsets operating DTV (470–740 MHz) band is proposed. The antenna can be easily constructed by folding the planar patch with the silt and occupies a small volume of 56× 23 × 10mm. The measured return losses for operating frequencies over the DTV band are better than −10 dB. The proposed antenna shows omni-directional or monopole-like radiation patterns and has good antenna gain over the frequencies of interest. The antenna can be applied to DTV application.

In this paper, a slot coupled dipole antenna was presented for dual band passive RFID tag applications. Structures using a slot coupled feed and a resonator are explored to achieve dual band operation. It shows good impedance and radiation characteristics from 860 MHz to 960 MHz (ISO 18000-6) and from 2.40 GHz to 2.50 GHz (ISO 18000-4). The return loss is verified by comparing the calculations and measurements, which show good agreement. Radiation patterns are omni-directional for operation frequencies. Numerical results are calculated using Ansoft HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator)

A novel low profile metal plate monopole antenna with L-shape silt for laptop application is proposed. The antenna covers DTV (470 MHz ~ 740 MHz) frequency band and can be easily constructed by folding the planar patch with a silt and occupies a small volume of 56 mm x 23 mm x 10 mm. The measured return losses for operating frequencies over the DTV band are greater than 7.5 dB. The proposed antenna shows nearly omni-directional or monopole-like radiation patterns and has good antenna gain over the frequencies of interest.

An integrated two-wire helical antenna for Bluetooth band (2.4 ~ 2.483 GHz) is introduced. The proposed antenna is implemented on the printed circuit board (PCB) for Bluetooth. The antenna has modified two-wire helical structure to maximize the bandwidth in spite of small PCB volume. The dimension of proposed antenna on standard FR4 substrate is 12 mm times 4 mm times 1.6 mm. The impedance bandwidth (VSWR<2) of proposed antenna is about 150 MHz (2.39 ~ 2.54 GHz). Radiation patterns are nearly omni-directional for operation frequencies.

A novel triple-band antenna for the terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB), digital video broadcasting handheld (DVB-H) and digital audio broadcasting (DAB) services are presented. By using the simple structure of two bar-shaped radiators with spiral ring shaped parasitic patches, meandered structures and lumped elements on FR4 substrate, triple-band performance and compact size are achieved. The designed antenna has good impedance matching and radiation characteristics for T-DMB band-III (174 MHz~216 MHz) band, DAB L-band (1.45 GHz~1.48 GHz) band and DVB-H band (470 MHz~870 MHz). Details of the antenna design as well as antenna characteristics are presented.

A novel dual band antenna for DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld) and T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) services are presented. By adjusting the gap distance between the long and short bar-shape metal plates, wide and dual band properties are achieved. The proposed antenna shows good impedance and radiation characteristics for DVB-H band (470 MHz to 870 MHz) and T-DMB band (1.45 GHz to 1.48 GHz). The measured return losses over the frequency band of interest are better than −10 dB. In addition, good radiation patterns are also obtained. The measured results are compared with calculated results using Ansoft HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator).

Novel design of a wideband monopole antenna for DVB-H service is presented. The proposed antenna is designed based on a monopole antenna. It consists of folded monopole and parallel parasitic element. The folded segment of the folded monopole makes the antenna shorter. The length of the parasitic element obtains additional resonance frequencies. The gap distance between the folded monopole and the parasitic element is a key parameter to control impedance matching for wideband operation. The antenna has wideband performance, good impedance and radiation characteristics from 470 ㎒ to 870 ㎒. The measured return loss for operating frequencies over DVB-H band is better than 10 dB. Good radiation patterns are also obtained. The measured results are compared with calculated results using Ansoft HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator).
