Temperature dependence of the bound polaron in a polar crystal slab

Abstract In considering both the electron interaction with the bulk longitudinal optical (LO) phonon and the electron interaction with the surface optical (SO) phonon, we have obtained the temperature dependence of the ground state and the excited state energy and the effective mass of the bound polaron confined in a slab of polar crystal by using Lee-Low-Pines variational technique and perturbative variational method.

The intermediate coupling polaron in a polar crystal slab

Abstract By means of the perturbation method and with the consideration of the electron-phonon interactions, the ground state and the first excited state of the intermediate coupling polaron in a polar crystal slab are investigated, particularly, the varying of the polaron effective mass as a function of the slab thickness is given for the first time.

States of an interface polaron in polar crystals

Abstract Both electron-LO phonon and electron-SO phonon interactions being taken into account, the effective Hamiltonian of the interface polaron is derived. It is found that the effective potential with a valley will come into being provided that the repulsive image potential is relatively weaker while the coupling constant relatively bigger. For such a case the ground state energy and the binding energy for various crystals are calculated.
