形状記憶合金を用いたコイルばね (SMAばね) は合金の特性上, 材料非線形, 温度依存性, ヒステリミス現象など通常のばねと異なった特性を示す. そのため, SMAばねの設計に通常のばねの設計式をそのまま適用することができない.本報では, SMAばねの力学的性質を通常のばねの支配方程式に即して検討し, SMA素線のねじり試験結果及びSMAばねの荷重試験結果を用いて設計を行うための設計式の導出を行った. また, コンピュータを援用したデータベースを基本とするSMAばねの設計システムを開発し, それによって, 作図による方法では困難であった動作過程での荷重特性や, ヒステリシス現象などの算出が可能になったことを示した.
