Formation of fluorocarbon monolayers on anodized aluminium plates by vapor phase chemical adsorption technique

3,3,3-(Trifluoropropyl)trichlorosilane (TFPS) was deposited on anodized aluminium plates by a vapor phase chemical adsorption technique in order to form fluorocarbon monolayers. The monolayers from the TFPS vapor showed the same water-repellent property as the monolayers from the TFPS solution. The vapor phase chemical adsorption technique may enable the formation of monolayers from organic trichlorosilanes on plastics which are soluble or swollen in organic solvents.
