Abstract The output characteristics of an induction motor driven by a current source inverter(CSI) are influenced by the nonlinear magnetizing inductance due to saturation of the magnetic path. Slip-torque and efficiency characteristics for the motor under nonlinear operation are estimated by sate numerical techniques such as a least squares method and a repetitive computation. These calculated results are applied to econtrol-algorithm of microcomputer controlled CSI drive system. It is shown that optimum operation for this nonlinear system can be detained by using a microcomputer as a controller.
