Pulmonary Vein Dilation in AF. Introduction: The positive relationship between left atrial (LA) size and atrial fibrillation (AF) is well recognized; however, there is little information on the association of pulmonary vein (PV) diameter and AF. The purpose of this study was to investigate by magnetic resonance angiography the change of PV and LA size in patients with no history of AF, patients with paroxysmal AF (PAF), and patients with chronic AF (CAF).

Introduction: The left atrium (LA) ablation in different regions, including LA appendage (LAA), LA roof, and LA septum, has recently been proposed to improve the success rate of treating patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). The purpose of this study was to investigate the anatomy of LAA, LA roof, and LA septum, using computed tomography (CT).

Introduction: Understanding the structural remodeling and reverse remodeling of the left atrium (LA) and pulmonary vein (PV) after radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) may provide important insights into the mechanism and management of AF. This study used magnetic resonance angiographic (MRA) images to investigate changes in PV and LA morphologies before and more than 1 year after ablation.

Right Middle Pulmonary Vein and AF. Introduction: Elimination of the ectopic foci from pulmonary veins (PVs) has proved to be a curative therapy for focal atrial fibrillation (AF). However, information about the importance of the right middle PV (RMPV) in initiation of AF and radiofrequency ablation of AF is limited.

Introduction: Some conflicting results of the efficacy of the inducibility test used in the catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) have been reported. The aim of this study was to investigate the inducibility and efficacy of circumferential ablation with pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) in patients with paroxysmal AF and its relationship to the atrial substrate.

Biatrial substrate properties in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Introduction: The atrial substrate plays an important role in the maintenance of atrial fibrillation (AF). Further investigation of the biatrial substrate may be helpful for understanding the mechanism of AF. The aim of this study was to investigate the properties of right and left atrial (RA and LA) substrate in AF patients and their impact on the catheter ablation.

Progressive Remodeling of the Atrial Substrate—A Novel Finding from Consecutive Voltage Mapping in Patients with Recurrence of Atrial Fibrillation After Catheter Ablation

Background: Atrial substrate properties have been demonstrated to be related to atrial arrhythmias. This study investigated whether the atrial substrate exhibits progressive remodeling in patients with recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) after catheter ablation.

Pulmonary Vein Ablation‐Induced Bradycardia. Introduction: Information is lacking about the occurrence of radiation‐related proarrhythmic events during application of radiofrequency (RF) energy at (he pulmonary veins in patients with paroxysmal focal atrial fibrillation. The purpose of this study was to assess the theoretical risk of reflex bradycardia and hypotension response during RF ablation of these regions rich in endocardial nerve terminals.

Clinical Outcome of Very Late Recurrence of Atrial Fibrillation after Catheter Ablation of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

Ming-Hsiung Hsieh; Ching-Tai Tai; Chin-Feng Tsai; Wei-Shiang Lin; Yung-Kuo Lin; Hsuan-Ming Tsao; Jin-Long Huang; Kwo-Chang Ueng; Wen-Chung Yu; Paul Chan; Yu-An Ding; Mau-Song Chang; Shih-Ann Chen

Introduction: High recurrence rate is still a major problem associated with ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). Most of the recurrences occur within 6 months after ablation. The characteristics of very late recurrent AF (>12 months after ablation) have not been reported.

Ming-Hsiung Hsieh; Ching-Tai Tai; Shih-Huang Lee; Yung-Kuo Lin; Hsuan-Ming Tsao; Shih-Lin Chang; Yenn-Jiang Lin; Wanwarang Wongchaoen; Kun-Tai Lee; Shih-Ann Chen

Introduction: The mechanisms of late (<1 year after the ablation) and very late (>1 year after the ablation) recurrences of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) after catheter ablation have not been reported.
