Abstract In this paper, we focus on the common problems of current information analysis and support decision systems in agricultural and forestry economies, such as frequent manual interventions, lack of cooperation among sub‐systems, lack of support from distributed computing and group decision making. This research aims to resolve these problems by rebuilding the system with agent technology, and a prototype of the agricultural and forestry economy decision support system (AFEDSS) based on agent is designed and implemented. The AFEDSS is composed of interface agent, management agent, model agent, forecast agent, assistant decision agent, data management agent. The results show that the new system can simulate and deal with the complex processes of agricultural and forestry economies in reasonably short computational times and with less subjective uncertainty. This paper also discusses the decision processes and internal mechanisms in AFEDSS especially on cooperating with dynamic analysis, evaluation, forecast and optimisation.

A method of applying agent technology to study agricultural economic information and construct decision-making system was provided by means of analyzing the problems existed in current assistant decision support system. The design idea and development technologies were discussed. The prototype of agent-based agricultural economic information analysis and decision-making system was built, and realize agricultural economy information and software sharing, cooperation analysis and group decision making in distributed system. Combining with various analyzing models and knowledge models, we implemented the cooperation and integration between prediction function and decision-making function.

Establishing agricultural product quality safety traceability platform and barcode system have become a worldwide trend. Bee product traceability platform that can be used to identify all aspects from farm to table has been laid out based on China law and global standards. An integrated bee product traceability system which involving all of the process along the supply chain can be applied to increase consumer confidence of bee products by making traceability data accessible to the consumer. In this bee product traceability platform, barcode system is of enormous significance and due to its applications in the all tracing stage of platform, standard barcode system architecture and infrastructure become very important.

Aiming at the problems existed in agricultural product quality control, management and traceability such as the considerable influence of human factors, weak ability of handling emergencies and lacking of support of intelligent key technologies, this study explores the application of agent theory, method and technique to solve the problems of process control, traceability, intelligent information watching and information technology application to emergency reaction conditioned on the general characteristics from production to circulation. In this study agent application and development method will be put forward. By means of investigating its communication and cooperative mechanism, we design the agent-based universal system framework for quality control of agricultural product. According to production and processing characteristics of different agricultural products, corresponding controlling unit and condition are increased to adapt to the special aim.

In according with wheat ecophysiological characteristics, the author applied technologies of system engineering method, crop simulation and computer to build wheat developing process cooperative models including growth model, developmental phase models, water balance model and nitrogen balance model etc. with the support of basic data such as variety characteristics, weather data, soil level and cultivation management, then further constructed Wheat Production Emulation System (WPES) with several additional functions such simulating wheat phenology stages and production features, warning of the and wheat growth three-dimensional display. This system was validated and calibrated through actual experiment for four wheat growing seasons in Hebei province. Predicted yield and biomass were significantly correlated with strong mechanism and prediction performance as well as its universal

The daily weather series simulated with observed weather data and weather data generated with conventional WGEN model taking dry and wet day as stochastic parameter and DWS model were statistically compared and analyzed. These three weather data were respectively used to drive maize growth simulation model. The corresponding yield results were compared. The results showed there was no significant difference between observed weather data and weather data generated with DWS model. The difference between yield simulated with DWS model and yield simulated with WGEN model was not significant.

This paper studies and analyzes the income difference among Chinese rural residents from 1997 to 2008 through absolute difference indices and relative difference indices. It comes to the conclusion that the absolute income difference among rural residents in China has been increasing year by year, while the relative difference remains around the average level and tends to increase in fluctuations in recent years. The paper also discusses the results and proposes corresponding countermeasures.

Cooperating with Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Administrative Bureau of Dingxing County, Hebei province, we applied the agricultural information software of Digital Maize Planting and Management System to guide local maize production. This system can direct the maize production during the whole course including digital simulation and design of maize production, planting plan before sowing, optimal water and nitrogen operation, nitrogen pollution warning, economic benefits analysis and so on. This study tries to establish the foundation for information and digitalization of maize production and management.
