Cellular Automata Modeling For Fire Spreading As a Tool to Aid Community-Based Planning for Disaster Mitigation

Akira Ohgai; Yoshimizu Gohnai; Shinji Ikaruga; Masahiro Murakami; Kojiro Watanabe

As a tool to support collaboration in community-based planning for disaster mitigation in Japanese old wooden built-up areas, we attempt to develop a fire spreading simulation model incorporated a fire fighting activity using Cellular Automata (CA). The proposed model can deal with the process of fire spreading in a building that traditional models can not represent. Whether or not fire can spread is based on a stochastic calculation process to reproduce uncertain fire spreading. The errors caused by the stochastic factor are analyzed by carrying out simulation two or more times under the same condition. Moreover, the reproductivity of the model is examined by comparing simulation results with actual fire records.

In this paper, we aimed to clarify a relationship between the urban core formation by public facilities and municipal strategy for future urban structure based on City Center Devitalization Basic Plan. Conclusions we obtained are as follows. 1. From the results of questionnaire survey to a person in charge of city planning division in each municipality, 63 cities promoted to construction of 116 new public facilities based on City Center Devitalization Basic Plan. 2. Accumulation structure of public facility can be classified to 7 types. 3. After construction of new public facility, 7cities changed their type of urban core formation.

STUDY ON THE CHARACTERISTIC OF POPULATION FLOW AND THE STRATEGY OF THE LAND USE INDUCEMENT ON SUBURBS IN THE CITY ABOLISHED THAT THE AREA DIVISION

Toshihiro Ishimura; Shinji Ikaruga

The purpose of this paper is to explain the characteristic of population flow and to propose the strategy of the land use inducement in the city abolished that the Area Division. First, we investigated the population trend and the land use trend in Toyo city planning area. And, we analyzed the relation between the population flow and the land use trend, it was clarified the characteristic of population flow in the city abolished that the Area Division. Finally, it was proposed the land use control on suburbs in the city abolished that the Area Division and the concrete strategy of the land use inducement in Toyo city planning area.
