Sintering mechanism and physical properties of a Mo2FeB2, especially Cr containing (Mo2-xFe1-xCr2x)B2 ternary borides were studied for deepening the understanding of basic characteristics of newly developed Mo2FeB2 boride base cermets. Cr addition to the Mo2FeB2 significantly improved its sinterability due to the formation of a transient liquid phase. Cr containing Mo2FeB2 borides have excellent physical properties such as high hardness and youngs modulus and are promising candidates for hard material applications.
