AbstractIn order to determine the influencing factors and characteristics of vehicle emission on urban road intersection, a typical urban road intersection of Changchun City was selected as an example, and the instantaneous mass emission of Jetta Gix 1.6 L car and Jinbin EFI 2. 4 L bus were tested by using the OEM -2100 emission tester. NOx, HC and CO were taken as the main pollutants, the relations between emission rate and driving mode, the emission statuses in different time periods and the influence of speed and acceleration on emission rate were all analyzed and compared.

In recent years, most road traffic accidents were caused by commercial vehicles, the main reason being the bad conditions of brake systems. In this paper, based on the statistical data of the accidents caused by commercial vehicles, symptoms and mechanisms of the accidents are analyzed; the main factors of the accidents were discovered. Then, using multi-sensor technology, WinCE 5.0 and distributed data acquisition technology, a software and hardware platform for data acquisition of the commercial vehicle brake system running parameters was built. By using the platform, the vehicle’s brake system performance parameters can be collected in real-time to recognize dangerous brake systems.

The urban road intersections are the most serious areas polluted by the vehicle emissions, Gongnong square intersection was selected as an example in this paper. The purpose of this paper is to quantitatively determine the approximate magnitude of emissions reduction that can reasonably be expected from the change of a signal timing program, and to determine how the change of a signal timing program could contribute to the reduction of air pollutants in at specified Intersection. The transient emission rates and the evaluation of emissions in different driving modes were all analyzed and compared. These have established a foundation for the study of the effects of a signal timing program on real-world vehicle emissions. Results showed that the change of the signal timing program reduced emissions and delay time spent at the intersection.
