A study on elasto-plastic response of a wooden house for wind action

Abstract This is a fundamental study on elasto-plastic response characteristics of a wooden house for wind action. Its purpose is to discuss effects of restoring force characteristics on elasto-plastic responses of it. In the study, a wooden house of two stories is subjected and time history analyses are carried out for the 1st modal model on the assumption that the 1st mode of the house is linear. Return periods of the wind actions are 50 to about 500 year. The following steps are employed to discuss the matters. First, each cases of bi-linear type restoring force and slip type restoring force are subjected and their response characteristics are analyzed basically. Second, several cases of hybrid type restoring force characteristics which is combined bi-linear type and slip type are subjected.
