Mitigation of nonlinear impact on optical fiber

Fakhriy Hario; Sholeh Hadi Pramono; I W Mustika; Adhi Susanto

Laser is one of the light sources that transmits wavelength with frequency, phase, and polarization parameters. The response of each dielectric material to light created nonlinear in strong electromagnetic field. Nonlinearity occurs within the optical fiber with high intensity of light at the core with long span. The focus of this paper was to reduce the behavior of nonlinearity SPM (Self Phase Modulation) and GVD (Group Velocity Dispersion) characteristic on optical fiber transmission using frequency dithering technique. This paper showed signal characteristic after passing dithering system. By investigating this, we expected to mitigate and reduce nonlinearity on optical medium transmission for minimum OLP (Optical Launch Power) with varied linewidth. The peak of maximum power after the technique was applied was −30 dBm with respective SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) and EVM (Error-Vector-Magnitude) value were 65 dB and 0.125 % on linewidth of 0.15 MHz.

Design and Fabrication of “Ha ()” Shape-Slot Microstrip Antenna for WLAN 2.4 GHz

Srisanto Sotyohadi; Sholeh Hadi Pramono; Moechammad Sarosa

This paper, a Open image in new window (is read “Ha”) shaped slotted microstrip antenna is designed, fabricated and analyzed. The proposed antenna used Open image in new window -shape slot is to improve return loss and operate for wireless LAN 2.4 GHz frequency band. The proposed antenna utilize transmission line model for analysis and simulation for return loss as well as VSWR with the support CST studio software. After doing some optimization on simulation, finally the dimension of microstrip patch antenna (MSPA) which operated on WLAN frequency 2.4 GHz is obtained. The best simulation results are then used as reference for MSPA fabrication on FR4 substrate with dielectric constant \( \left( {\varepsilon_{\text{r}} } \right) = 4.3 \) and thickness (h) = 1.5 mm. The measurement result shows that the Open image in new window -slot microstrip antenna can achieve return loss (S11) −29.81 dB and VSWR 1.068 at 2.4640770 GHz. The proposed design shows that Open image in new window shape technically can be used as slot within patch to improve microstrip antenna performance.

One of the most important aspects in the development of a city is the educational aspect. The quality of a good education sector in the city will also affect the quality of the city. The quality of education is also supported by a variety of factors, one of which is the school. Generally, people will be looking for good schools and proximity to the neighborhood. So that people can easily get the desired information about the school, in this study, school location search application using J2ME-based mobile phone, the case study is the city of Cirebon. This application is designed to enable the public to know the location of the nearest school with the users location. This application, created using NetBeans and Java programming language. Java is very flexible and can be used on a variety of hardware platforms and easy to use. This application uses the method of location based services (LBS) that provides location information as well as the geographical position of the school on a mobile device. This application uses the latest technology, so as to facilitate the public to find out information about the means of education and promote education. This application contains several menus, they are Start, Help, About and Exit. On the Start menu there is a sub menu that are elementary, junior high, and high school, and have been tested and implemented on the Nokia X2 and Nokia C6.

The effect of photoelectrode TiO 2 layer thickness to the output power of chlorophyll-based Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC)

Sholeh Hadi Pramono; Eka Maulana; Mar Sembiring

DSSC (Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell) is conducted by doctor blading TiO2 deposition method to the substrate material. Couple of TCOs (Transparent Conductive Oxide) of Indium Thin Oxide are used as substrate of photo electrode and counter electrode. The variation of TiO2 layer thickness is deposited on to photo electrode layer by adjusting level of masker thickness. The variation of masker layers are used of 100, 200, and 300 μm thickness. The DSSC structure is designed by combination of TCO glass, TiO2 nanoparticle, natural chlorophyll dye ectract from jatropha leaves, electrolyte solution and carbon layer. A extracted chlorophyll absorbance spectra is investigated by UV-1601 spectrophotometer at 200-800 nm wavelength. According to the DSSC measurement by 7 watt LED lamp, it was obtained the maximum electrical characteristic of open voltege circuit Voc and sort circuit current Isc are 321 mV and 15.2 μA, respectively. The maximum output power was achieved by 292 μm TiO2 layer thicness of 1008 × 10-9W produced by 292 μm layer thickness applied on 1.7×1.7 cm active area of DSSC.
