MRI in flexor tendon rupture after collagenase injection

Shruti Khurana; Vibhor Wadhwa; Avneesh Chhabra; Bardia Amirlak

Flexor tendon rupture is an unusual complication following collagenase injection to relieve contractures. These patients require a close follow-up and in the event of tendon rupture, a decision has to be made whether to repair the tendon or manage the complication conservatively. The authors report the utility of MRI in the prognostication and management of a patient with Dupuytren’s contracture, who underwent collagenase injection and subsequently developed flexor digitorum profundus tendon rupture.

Meckel–Gruber syndrome: ultrasonographic and fetal autopsy correlation

Shruti Khurana; Vikram Saini; Vibhor Wadhwa; Harveen Kaur

AbstractnMeckel–Gruber syndrome (MGS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder which is characterized by a classic triad of occipital encephalocele, polycystic kidneys and postaxial polydactyly. We describe a case of classic MGS, diagnosed on ultrasonography and genetic analysis, with subsequent confirmation and correlation by fetal autopsy.nSommarionLa sindrome di nMeckel–Gruber (MGS) è una rara anomalia autosomatica recessiva caratterizzata dalla triade classica composta da encefalo occipitale, reni policistici e polidattilìa postassiale. Descriviamo un caso di MGS classica, diagnosticata con ecografia ed analisi genetiche, successivamente confermata dal test autoptico del feto.

Technical challenges during therapeutic ERCP in a patient with Situs Inversus Totalis

Nirav Thosani; Shruti Khurana; Hani A. Zamil; Erik Rahimi; Sushovan Guha

Situs inversus totalis is an extremely rare autosomal recessive disorder occurring in 0.01% of the population. The reversal of visceral organs poses technical difficulties for therapeutic intervention during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). We describe a unique case of a patient with situs inversus who underwent therapeutic ERCP for management of choledocholithiasis.

The role of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and guided biopsies has been well established for the locoregional staging of esophageal cancers. However, their role in posttreatment surveillance is unclear. Here, we describe a case of a pancreatic mass diagnosed on the follow-up positron emission tomography scan, concerning for a metastatic lesion. EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) helped in establishing the diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumor, which tends to have a similar sonographic appearance. Therefore, it is imperative to evaluate a suspicious mass seen on computed tomography/positron emission tomography scan. EUS and EUS-guided FNA can serve as useful modalities to confirm the diagnosis by cytopathology.
