Four personal and situational variables and the Consideration and Initiating Structure variables of the Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire were used to predict three indices of Job Satisfaction of 136 Georgia public school superintendents. Method of selection and Consideration were reliable predictors, with appointed superintendents reporting more satisfaction than elected ones. Correlations were relatively low with variance accounted for by independent variables only .045, .103, and .062 for Intrinsic, Extrinsic, and General Satisfaction, respectively.

This study investigated the relationship between perceived satisfaction with leadership in selected organizational processes and managerial philosophies of subordinates and superordinates. Independent variables were determined by the Managerial Philosophies Scale. Perceived satisfaction with leadership was measured by the Diagnostic Survey for Leadership Improvement. Subjects were 66 department heads and 186 members of one university in Thailand. Analysis of variance yielded no statistically significant relationship between managerial philosophies of subordinates and superordinates as defined by McGregors Theory X-Theory Y and perceived satisfaction with leadership.

A University admissions procedure was examined to determine the validity of the predictive grade point average by comparing white students with black students. Subjects were 434 black and 373 white students enrolled over 4 yr. Analysis of variance indicated that black and white students were similar regarding their actual and predicted first quarter grade averages.

A factor analysis of responses from 136 Georgia public school superintendents to the short-form Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire yielded a single factor, Global Perceptions of Leader Behavior, instead of the usual two factors, Consideration and Initiating Structure. This factor accounted for 41.1% of the variance. The two factors were correlated .69. Plausible interpretations of the nonindependence for this population were discussed.
