Palladium-catalyzed carbonylation to form 2-substituted 1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-quinoline

Sigeru Torii; Hiroshi Okumoto; Long He Xu

Abstract Palladium-catalyzed carbonylation of 2-haloaniline in the presence of terminal acetylenes under proper conditions (20 Kgcm −2 of CO at 120 °C) gave a variety of 2-substituted 1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-quinolines in good yields.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1993

Palladium-catalyzed sequential bond formation leading to conjugated ene-yne system

Sigeru Torii; Hiroshi Okumoto; Tadashi Tadokoro; Akihiko Nishimura; Md. A. Rashid

Palladium-catalyzed sequential formation of carbon-carbon bonds among sp2 and sp carbons was performed to construct a highly conjugated ene-yne system aiming neocarzinostatin chromophore.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1991

Palladium-catalyzed tandem bond forming reaction leading to aromatic ring through diene-yne system

Sigeru Torii; Hiroshi Okumoto; Akihiko Nishimura

Abstract A double cyclization involving palladium-catalyzed intramolecular followed by intermolecular carboncarbon bond formations starting from vinyl bromides with acetylenes produced aromatic compounds through diene-yne system in high yields.

A facile synthesis of C(3)-alkenyl substituted cephems through addition-cyclization of allenecarboxylates derived from penicillin☆

Hideo Tanaka; Yutaka Kameyama; Shin-ichi Sumida; Sigeru Torii

Abstract A short-cut route to cephalosporins bearing alkenyl substituents on the C(3)-position through copper(I) chloride-promoted Michael-type addition of alkenyltributyltins to allenecarboxylates, derived from penicillin, is described.

Electropolymerization of anilines linked with triarylamines as a redox-active function

Hideo Tanaka; Hiroyasu Katsuura; Sigeru Torii

Abstract Electropolymerization of aniline derivatives linked with a triarylamine moiety (TAA) as a redox-active function was investigated in various supporting electrolyte-solvent-electrode systems. A firmly adhering and conductive polyaniline film carrying TAA could be formed on a glassy carbon electrode by a cyclic potential sweep electrolysis of 4-{4-[ N , N ,-bis(4-bromophenyl)amino]phenyl}propyl (2-aminophenyl)acetate in dichloromethane containing n -Bu 4 NClCO 4 in the range from −0.5 to 1.80 V vs Ag/AgCl. The polymer-coated carbon electrode thus formed exhibits stable and broad redox peaks in the cyclic voltammograms even after 20 cycles. Similar cyclic potential sweep electrolysis of the related TAA-functionalized aniline derivatives was also carried out but redox-active conductive films were not formed. The effects of solvent, supporting electrolyte, electrode material are discussed.

Electrooxidative initiation of tin hydride-promoted radical chain reactions

Hideo Tanaka; Hiroaki Suga; Hidenori Ogawa; A. K. M. Abdul Hai; Sigeru Torii; Anny Jutand; Christian Amatore

Electrooxidative initiation of tin hydride-promoted radical chain reactions at ambient temperature has been performed by passing 0.2–0.5 F/mol of electricity through a solution of triphenyltin hydride and substrates in THF containing Bu4NClO4.

Synthetic Communications | 1993

A Facile Conversion of 2-Substituted Acrylamides to 1,3-Disubstituted 3-Bromo-2-azetidinones

Sigeru Torii; Hiroshi Okumoto; Hidehiko Yabuki

Abstract N-Substituted 2,3-dibromo-2-alkylacrylamides obtained by the bromination of 2-alkylacrylamides were converted to 1,3-disubstituted 3-bromo-2-azetidinones in excellent yields upon treatment with potassium carbonate in acetone under refluxing.
