William Leiper's Houses in Helensburgh

Simon Green

William Leiper comes from the generation before Mackintosh, but his career overlapped with that of the younger man. He was not only an important Glasgow-based architect, but also, like Mackintosh, a talented artist. He is probably best known for his polychromatic Templetons Carpet Factory in Glasgow, but his practice was very wide; this chapter looks at a representative sample of his domestic work.
