This article addresses an open issue of end-to-end service specification and mapping in next generation networks. A centralized approach has been considered, via the third party agent that manages negotiation process in a group of domains. We suggest a general structure of the service specification form, which contains technical parameters related with a particular service request. Relying on such general form, we further propose and evaluate an efficient algorithm for service class selection. The algorithm selects the most appropriate class for each domain by determining the closest conformance between the required and offered service level. We also present a numerical example that demonstrates operating of the algorithm. Performance evaluation has been performed on the prototype implementation. Results of the analysis have pointed out the following important advantages of our approach: fairness in resource consumption, flexibility in class selection according to specific management policy and adaptability to different quality of service models.

This paper presents the results of performance comparison for three different virtualization software, Oracle VM VirtualBox, VMware Player and Microsoft Virtual PC 2007, in Windows 7 operation system environment. All the testing procedures are performed in the same hardware environment and on the same disc partition. We have applied NTFS file system, while Windows 7 is used as host and guest operational systems. Postmark is benchmark application created for the needs of file system performance measurement, and easily used for testing systems and virtualization applications performances based on the different file size.

In this paper, we propose a framework for SLA specification and negotiation in next generation networks. The framework encompasses a general service level specification format and conformance matching rules. The proposed specification format allows administrators to describe service classes in their own domains independently of the network technology and the applied QoS model. We further define and investigate a conformance matching scheme (CMS). The objective of CMS is to assess the degree of correspondence between the required and offered QoS at the network-to-network interface. We also present a numerical example and the prototype implementation that demonstrate operating of the proposed framework.

In this paper, we propose a policy-based model to achieve end-to-end (E2E) service negotiation among multiple domains that constitute E2E path. The model relies on a centralized approach, realized via the third party (3P) agent, which acts as a proxy server for local (per-domain) management entities. We demonstrate the proposed model on the implementation of policies for allocation of performance impairment budgets among domains, and present the appropriate software design.

The quality of service and security issues are usually explored individually, rarely considering a possibility of comprehensive solution proposals. The focus of this paper is on exploring existing correlations for security and QoS issues in MANET, thus providing a strong foundation for an appropriate design of automated policy based management system (PBM). We proposed MPBM - a model for overall PBM solution suitable for MANET. Functional model of the proposed PBM consists of four entities dealing with: QoS, network resources, configuration and security.
