Application of CAN in vehicle traction control system

In this paper, CAN bus, which works in good real-time and high reliability, was designed and applied to meet the need of real-time control for traction control system (TCS) of 2WD vehicle. TCS controllers were developed which include two electrical control units (ECU): one is the host ECU which receives the signals from sensors such as the wheel speed sensors, longitudinal acceleration sensor, accelerator pedal position sensor, and engine throttle position sensor, and sends the control commands to the actuators according to the control algorithm. The other is the throttle controller which receives the throttle control command from host ECU by CAN bus to run the engine throttle actuator by which engine output torque can be reduced to avoid the excessive spin of the driving wheels. Meanwhile throttle controller feedbacks the running states of the actuator to the host ECU by CAN bus. In addition, the host ECU controls the hydraulic control unit (HCU) to regulate brake torque of driving wheels to control wheel slip. To verify the reliability of TCS controllers and the accuracy of data transmission over CAN bus, the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests were performed by means of the vehicle rapid development system (RDS). Test results show that not only CAN communication is reliable and accurate, but also TCS controllers can effectively keep the slip rate of the driving wheels in the optimum range and improve the driving ability of the vehicle.

Application of CAN Bus to HEV Based on MPC5xx Microcontroller

In this paper, CAN Bus, which works in good real-time and high reliability, was designed and programmed based on 32-bit CPU-MPC5xx with high performance for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). HEV controller based on MPC5xx was developed which can transfer data by CAN Bus with other ECUs of drivetrain assemblies such as engine, motor and battery according to the HEV control algorithm and requirements. To verify the reliability of HEV controller based on MPC5xx and the accuracy of data transmission over CAN Bus, the bench test platform was established based on the dynamometers. Test results show that not only CAN communication is reliable and accurate, but also HEV controller based on MPC5xx can effectively harmonize the task distribution among all ECUs of drivetrain assemblies with the real-time control improved greatly for HEV control system.

A hardware-in-the-loop simulator based on dynamometers for traction control system

A hardware-in-the-loop simulator based on dynamometers to debug software and hardware of traction control system is examined in this paper, as it is able to shorten developing cycle by providing simulated low-/spl mu/ or split-/spl mu/ road regardless of weather. A dynamometer controller was designed with fuzzy PI method to make the torque of dynamometer regulated to the target resistance torque acted by the ground on driving wheels. Furthermore, the algorithm and hardware of ECU for traction control system were devised. The results of tests on typical roads show that the matching of software and hardware is achieved under the circumstance of the simulator.

Notice of Retraction Analyses of car fuel consumption based on driving cycles

Aimed at the difficulty of effectively analyzing fuel consumption characteristics for the conventional vehicle, this paper combined with the engine work time and engine fuel rate based on the vehicles drive cycles, and used visual analysis to find out the engine fuel consumption characteristics of the detail three-dimensional distribution. The results show that, for the actual engine operating point of vehicles urban drive cycles, the vast majority is falling into the low speed and low-load zone, and in these regions engine consumes too much fuel. Furthermore, the results can also indicates the direction of energy-saving design of the engine, i.e. high efficiency of engine MAP should be matched with the low-speed and low-load zone according to the vehicles drive cycles. and engine should be downsized by hybrid technology. These works have great practical significance for enterprise products renewal and energy-saving design.

Parameter matching for hybrid plug-in bus

Based on the first generation of hybrid electric city bus CA6110HEV developed by FAW (First Automobile Workshop) in China, the new generation of hybrid plug-in bus was designed, mainly including the parameters matching for the power-train and power sources. Then simulation platform were developed and established. The dynamic and economy performances were predicted based on the above work, results showed that the designed hybrid plug-in bus can meet the performance demands and validated rationality of the parameters matching.
