In this study for the prediction of 3D underwater radiated noise pattern, a comparison between the proposed method(DHIE, Discrete Helmholtz Integral Equation) and the 3D underwater radiated noise calculation results using the measurement of near-field acoustic pressure data is performed. The near-field acoustic pressure in water is measured for the calculation of the far-field radiated noise pattern and the far-field acoustic power. Also the vibration field of the underwater structure is measured in simultaneously. Using the total far-field acoustic power and the vibration field on the surface of the structure, the proposed method(DHIE) can predict the underwater radiated noise pattern of the far-field The predicted results show the reasonable agreement within about 5dB comparing with the experiment result.

This paper presents an efficient method to analyze noise and vibration of marine diesel engines mounted on flexible hull structure. The analysis model should in general include the hull structure, leading to lots of computational efforts. To minimize the computational efforts, in this paper, the transfer synthesis utilizing the receptance at the mounting points is proposed. The procedure is then verified by comparing the results with those from the full model calculation. The effects of flexible hull structure on the acoustic power from engine block are finally investigated. It is found that the effect of the hull is significant when the receptance of hull structure is similar to or greater than that of mount or engine block.

In this paper, the general equation of motion of damped sandwich beam with multi-viscoelastic material layer was derived based on the equation presented by Mead and Markus. The viscoelastic layer, which has characteristics of complex shear modulus, was assumed to be dominantly under shear deformation. The equation of motion of n-layered damped sandwich beam in bending could be represented by (n+3)th order ordinary differential equation. Finite element model for the n-layered damped sandwich beam was formulated and programmed using higher order shape functions. Several numerical examples were implemented to show the effects of damped material.
