Fashion and Beauty Involvement According to a Conspicuous Consumption Tendency

This study examines the fashion and beauty involvement according to a conspicuous consumption tendency. Questionnaires were used for female university students in their 20s and employees residing in Busan. The results of this study are as follows: The subfactors of conspicuous consumption tendency were divided into the individual pursuit orientation, brand orientation, high price orientation, and fashion pursuit orientation. The subfactors of fashion involvement were composed of physical supplementations, social symbols, outward appearance direction, sex appeal, and assimilation; in addition, those of beauty involvement consisted of hair design, skin management, make-up application, and shape management. Because of the examination of the differences, fashion involvement, and beauty involvement, conspicuous consumption tendency had a significant difference between the two groups in brand orientation, fashion in physical supplementation and outward appearance direction as well as beauty involvement in skin management and make-up direction. The conspicuous consumption tendency in the student influences the fashion pursuit orientation of fashion and beauty involvement because of the examination of the effect. Conspicuous consumption tendency in employees influences the individuality pursuing orientation and high price orientation in fashion involvement. In conclusion, the results show the tendency that university students put the most importance on fashion for fashion and beauty related product purchases and management direction; in addition, employees with income pursue high prices that can show their positions and economic power at work.

The Effects of Fashion and Beauty Consumption Behavior on Self-Satisfaction

This study examines the effects of fashion and beauty consumption behavior on self-satisfaction. A questionnaire method was used for the study method and the subjects of the study were females in their 20s- 50s. A total of 580 sets of questionnaires were distributed and 554 sets were used for the final analysis; in addition, SPSS 12.0 statistics program was utilized for factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were: First, the factors of fashion consumption behavior are composed of physical supplementation, social symbolism, appearance styling, sexuality and conformity and those of beauty involvement consisted of hair styling, skin management, make-up and body shaping. Self-satisfaction was divided into living satisfaction, appearance satisfaction, economic satisfaction and interpersonal relations satisfaction. Second, (because of the examination of the effects of fashion consumption behavior on self-satisfaction) fashion physical supplementation and appearance styling of fashion consumption behavior influenced living satisfaction and interpersonal relations satisfaction for females in their 20s. However, fashion consumption behavior did not influence satisfaction for those in their 30s. It was shown that the social conformity factor of fashion consumption behavior influenced appearance satisfaction of self- satisfaction for those in their 40s and the conformity factor of fashion consumption behavior gave a negative influence on life satisfaction and economic satisfaction of self-satisfaction for those in their 50s. It was found (for beauty consumption behavior) that the body-shaping factor influenced economic satisfaction and interpersonal relations satisfaction of self-satisfaction for all age levels.

The Effects of Conspicuous Consumption Tendency on Fashion Involvement by Age Groups

The purpose of this study was examine the effects of the conspicuous consumption tendency by age on fashion involvement. Questionnaires were distributed to 554 females in their 20s-50s. for the final analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, as a result of the examination of the differences between conspicuous consumption and fash- ion involvement by age, people in their 20s showed the highest conspicuous consumption and fashion involvement. Sec- ond, as a result of the analysis of the effects of the conspicuous consumption by age on the fashion involvement, people in their 20s and 30s influenced the appearance management among the factors of the individuality pursuit orientation and those in the 40s physical supplementation and appearance management and those in the 50s the physical supplementation and sexual appeal. The brand orientation factor influenced social symbol to all the people in their 20s to 50s and the high price orientation factor did not influence any of the people in their 20s to 50s. The trend pursuit orientation factor showed its influence on appearance management to those in their 30s and sexual appeal and conformity to those in their 40s.

A Comparison of the Preference by Gender on the Height of Males & Females and the Female Body

This study compares by gender the preference about ideal female height and body parts. Data was collected through a survey of 203 males and 236 females. The results are as follows: Males and females prefer 161~165cm as the ideal female height and 176~180cm as the ideal male height. In regards to the ideal height difference between couples, both males and females prefer males to be taller, with the head of the female at the same height as the neck of the male. Males and females prefer the shorter height than the ideal height of a fashion model and Miss Korea who got the prize from the korean beauty contest. In the case of Miss Korea, there has been a demand for tall women to participate in world beauty contests. However, this study shows that young people prefer a shorter height than the society expects. Males and females think the shoulder width is ideal when it is 2 times wider than the width of a face in regards to the preference of the ideal female body parts. There is a difference between males and females in the ideal breast size. Males prefer C-cup size while females prefer B-cup size. The ideal size of waist preferred is between 60~65cm to both males and females. The ideal shape of legs preferred to both males and females is a slightly muscular shape.

The Effects of Beauty Involvement on Self-Satisfaction by Conspicuous Consumption Tendency Groups

This study examined the effect of beauty involvement on self-satisfaction by conspicuous consumption ten- dency groups. A questionnaire method was used for this study. The subjects of this research were females in their 20s~50s. We distributed 580 questionnaires ets; constantly, 554 sets were used in the final analysis. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, ANOVA, cluster analysis, Cronbachs alpha coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Beauty con- sumption behavior factors were classified with hair styling, skin management, make-up and body shaping. Self-satisfaction factors were classified with living, appearance, economic and interpersonal relation. This study classified 4 conspicuous consumption groups (active, passive, syntonic and individuality & frugal group). The active conspicuous consumption group was unsatisfied with most of the self-satisfaction factors. The passive conspicuous consumption group was more interested in skin management factors than other factors. The syntonic conspicuous consumption group was interested in make-up, body shaping and skin management in order to provide a positive impression to other people. The indi- viduality & frugal group was most interested in body shaping that could be achieved at low cost through exercise and diet.

Romantic Image Classification by Clothing Design Elements

The purpose of this study was to classify the casual image by clothing design elements. This research was done by survey method with 30 kinds of casual image photos selected in fashion magazines. The data was analyzed by Reliability Analysis, Factor Analysis, ANOVA, Duncan`s test and MDS. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Casual image was classified by 6 factors. Those were classic-casual, modern-casual, romantic-casual, vintage-casual, sexy-casual and active-casual images. 2. Classic-casual image was well-expressed by A silhouette, fit, chromatic and chromatic color coordinations and hard texture. Modern-casual image was well-expressed by H silhouette, fit and achromatic and achromatic color coordinations. Romantic-casual image was well-expressed by A silhouette, fit and soft texture. Vintage-casual image was well-expressed by H silhouette, combination apparel-fit, chromatic and chromatic color coordinations and fade-out texture. Sexy-casual image was well-expressed by fitted silhouette, tight apparel-fit and combination texture. 3. Casual image was positioned into mostly dynamic and modern on image scale.

Hair Style Image by Variations of Hair Design Elements

The purpose of this study was to find out the hair style image about variations of hair design elements. The method of this study was quasi-experimentation. The twelve color photographs of manikins with various hair style were used as the stimulus. As measuring instrument, a likert scale composed of 35 items of five point adjectives was used. The sample consisted of 157 males and 140 females residing in the Busan area. The range of the age is from 20 to 55. The survey was conducted from August to September in 2007. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, frequency, crosstabs one-way analysis of variance, Duncan`s test and t-test used SPSS Packages. The results of this study were as follows: 1. As a result of factor analysis, 8 factors - romantic, natural, elegant, simple, classic, casual, modem and mannish were found out as constructing factors of hairstyle image. 2. As a result of hair style image analysis about variations of hair-length, The short hair style was perceived in modern, mannish, casual, sophisticate, medurm-length style in classic and elegant, long hair style was perceived to be high in romantic and natural. 3. As a result of hair style image analysis about variations of hair design elements, The length of hair style was the most influential element in hair design and secondly important one was the wave of hair style. The color of hair style didn`t critical effect on image of hair style.

Color Preference and Relationship between Personal Color Types and Personality Types

The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between the personal color types and personality types and analyze the differences in color preference according to the personal color types and personality types. This study was conducted by using questionnaire method and drape diagnosis method in parallel. The results are as follows. First, in case of introversion (I), the summer type took the most and spring, fall, and winter type followed respectively. Also in the case of extroversion (E), the summer type took the most and spring, fall, and winter type followed respectively. Second, the spring type preferred yellow, the summer type, blue, the fall type, brown, and winter type, blue the most. For the preference of the tone of color, all 4 types preferred the pastel tones the most. For the lipstick colors, the spring and summer type preferred the pink color, the fall type, orange and winter type, red the most. For eye shadows, the spring type preferred orange, summer type, blue, fall type, orange and winter type, pink. For nail colors, all 4 types preferred pink the most. Third, the most preferred color for introversion (I) was red group. In contrast, the most preferred color for extroversion (E) was yellow group. In the tone of preferred colors, both introversion and extroversion preferred the pastel tones the most. In lipstick colors, eye shadow colors, and nail colors, both introversion and extroversion preferred the pink group colors the most.

Comparative Study on Consumers` Perceptive Attitude and Origins of `Tattoo` and `Moonsin`

The purpose of this study is to examine the realities of the chaotic use of terms, `tattoo` and `moonsin`, through the empirical field researches. This paper will research the differences in the origins and the etymological meanings of `tattoo` and `moonsin` through examining related literatures. Clarifying the term definitions on `tatto` and `moonsin`, this research is to help fashion consumers to use these terms discretely. In order to figure out consumers` perceptive attitude, this study has performed the questionnaire inquiry and has reached the result by analyzing the level of frequency of using the two terms. 1. The result of the term-preference inquiry tells that consumers prefer `tattoo` to `moosin`. However, the inquiry shows considerable number of them use the two terms indiscretely. 2. The study on the perceptions from the two terms shows: the term `tattoo` is often related to positive images-fashionable, charming, and sexy, and the term `moonsin` to negative ones-violent, anti-social, and demonic. 3. Both `tattoo` and `moonsin` shares the similarity in terms of engraving patterns on skin and coloring them. 4. `Tattoo` is originally derived from the Polynesian word `tatau`, which means `artistic`. `Tatau` is a kind of ethnic art practiced on Polynesian people`s skin. The design patterns and practicing techniques are very similar to those on the Polynesian earthware called `Lapita`.

Classification of Clothing Ornaments by Yin and Yang's Traits and Changes of Details from 16th to 18th Century

The purpose of this study is 1) to find out the dominant clothing ornaments in Europe in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, 2) to examine the changes of such clothing details as neckline and collar, sleeve and stomacher from 16th to 18th century 3) and to classify the ornaments of these 3 centuries according to Yin and Yang`s traits. An analysis was conducted of 405 pieces of art out of 10 books of costume history. Of these pieces, 121 were from the Renaissance era, 107 were Baraque and 177 were Rococo. The analysis found that the distinctive ornaments in 16th century were ruff, slash, chain and girdle decoration. The distinctive ornaments of Baroque period were tassel, fringe, loop and binding. The Rococo period were distinguished by falbala, sash belt and fabric necklace. With regard to the changes over the 3 centuries necklines changed from high to lower. Sleeves became shorter. Stomacher which was long and sharp became wider and shorter. As to the Yin and Yang`s traits there was also an evolution. Renaissance costume with Yang`s style was decorated mostly Yang influenced ornaments. Baroque clothing was a mixed of Yin and Yang, as were the ornaments. By Rococo both clothing and ornaments reflected Yin`s traits.
