New simulation toolkit for comparison of scheduling algorithm on cloud computing provides reliable, customized and guaranteed dynamic computing environments for end-users in such a way so that more and more people tend to adapt the cloud environment in their workplace. Cloud computing is becoming an increasingly popular enterprise model in which computing resources are made available on-demand to the user as required. The unique concept of cloud computing creates new opportunities to align Business and IT goals. Job scheduling is an essential requirement in cloud computing environment with the given constraints. Some intensive researches have been done in the area of job scheduling of cloud computing. The scheduling algorithms should order the jobs in a way where balance between improving the performance and quality of service and at the same time maintaining the efficiency and fairness among the jobs. This paper aims at studying various scheduling algorithms recently proposed in cloud computing.

Novel JAVA-GUI based package for optimized perofrmance analysis of 1D PhC based filter

A novel package is proposed using JAVA-GUI platform for analyzing filter performance with one-dimensional photonic crystal. With this package, user can provide the required structural parameters (within fabrication limit) for maximum 11 layers 1D structure; and bandpass characteristics can be obtained for both the polarized input conditions. Results are provided for SiO2-air composition, and can be obtained for other material systems with positive refractive indices. Package is useful prior to fabrication for optimizing filter performance.

JAVA-GUI based package for calcualting bandwidth and ripple of 1D PhC based filter

A novel package in JAVA-GUI platform is developed for the end-users to compute the figure of merit of the 1D PhC based bandpass filter designed at 1.55 μm. Optimization procedure is made to increase bandwidth and reduce ripple for a set of structural parameters, and the effect of the filter transmittivity profile is also simultaneously measured. A new algorithm is developed for the purpose which will help the user to study prior to fabrication whether the proposed structure will meet the requirements of application. This package can also be applicable with the various materials having positive refractive indices already used to design PhC based filter.

Pixel variation problem identification in image segmentation for big image data set in cloud platform

This paper describes problem regarding pixel identification for image segmentation methodologies for big image dataset for real robust applications. For medical, urban or satellite images, segmentation process can done through high computing nodes for high I/O performance, low computing time by considering low overhead of transmission rate. Multi thresholding segmentation may apply for large images must conduct due to features of different computing nodes for different images. For heterogeneity after reduction of a big image data set into image set there is a lack of information regarding pixel may arise in cloud platform. This paper identified the problem and shown how that one occurs.
