Performance of adaptive equalizers for systems with code-multiplexed pilot

We derive analytical expressions for the output SINR of equalizers trained on code-multiplexed pilot using the least squares and least mean square (LMS) adaptive algorithms. The results show the exact dependence of the convergence behavior on the number of training samples, the equalizers tap complexity, the fraction of power devoted to the forward link pilot, and the statistics of the channel and interference. Remarkably, the latter dependence is captured entirely by the Wiener STNR achievable with the specified tap complexity.

CDMA Voice Capacity with Adaptive Equalizer Receivers

We study the Erlang voice capacity of CDMA forward links with least squares adaptive equalizers. The effects of equalizer misadjustment due to limited training samples are accounted for through an accurate, analytical approximation to the equalizers output SINR probability distribution function. Our results show that a practical least squares adaptive equalizer potentially improves voice capacity by 30-40% over a conventional maximal-ratio combiner RAKE receiver

Analysis and application of power control in cdma2000

We study the effect of power control (PC) in cdma2000, an evolution of the TIA/EIA-95 cellular standard. We describe the mechanisms for PC in cdma2000 and develop a simplified analytical model. Analysis of this model shows the regime where PC offers benefits and facilitates an intuitive understanding of reverse link simulations.
