Maximizing spectrum usage and numerous applications of the wireless communication networks have forced to a high interest of vacant spectrum. Cognitive Radio influences its receiver and transmitter features accurately so that they can utilize the vacant approved spectrum without impacting the functionality of the principal licensed subscribers. The use of various channels assists to address interferences thereby improves the whole network efficiency. The MAC protocol in cognitive radio network explains the spectrum consumption by interacting the multiple channels among the subscribers. In this particular paper we studied traditional TDMA dependent MAC method with dynamically assigned slots. The majority of the MAC protocols suggested in the research operate Common-Control-Channel (CCC) to handle the services between Cognitive Radio end users. Traditional MAC protocol design and operations are implemented by using Multi-Channel-Collection method, a high rate multi-channel time schedule protocol for unbiased real-time data collection and their limitations are studied in Wireless mesh Networks. In this paper, an extensive study of Multi-Channel-Collection with sophisticated techniques for multiple band or frequency range channel allotment and continually synchronized TDMA scheduling are shown in summarized way.

Wireless Mesh Networks(WMNs) are emerging and low-cost next generation wireless networks. WMNs are able to provide communication for all types of networks with its backbone composed of low mobile or stationary Mesh Routers(MR). In WMNs, most of the traffic is generated by either Mobile Clients(MC) or Mesh Points(MP). MRs and MCs are two different mobile nodes in WMNs with different resources. Due to low mobility at MR level, proactive scenario performs well and proactive approach effectively utilizes the resources. The main constraint is at mobile client side, which have less resources and high mobility. So at this level reactive scenario performs well and it helps to utilize less resources in a good way.

In this paper, a survey on routing protocols, challenges and applications in wireless mesh networks (WMNs) is conducted. Wireless Mesh network is a type of distributed, self-organizing, self-configuring and self-healing network. When access points in Wireless Local area Networks start to communicate and get networked in an ad hoc fashion to relay packets for their neighbors, a wireless mesh network comes into being. Wireless Mesh Networks are a promising way to provide internet access to fixed and mobile wireless devices. In mesh networks, traffic between mesh nodes and the Internet is routed over mesh gateways. In this paper, we discuss some of the routing protocols (i) OLSR, an Optimized Link State Routing Protocol and (ii) FSR, Fish-eye state routing protocol in detail and present various ad hoc routing protocols and their properties.

Mobile ad hoc network design’s goal is to provide Internet connectivity anywhere and anytime regardless of geographical location. Application of MANET includes disaster recovery, military, and environment monitoring. Resource-constrained environment of MANET makes its communication operations very much challenging. Moreover, network nodes are equipped with constrained batteries and it is much tough to replace or recharge the batteries during the mission. Thus, MANET requires an energy-efficient mechanism to address the constraints. We are achieving the energy efficiency through network layer, as MANET is infrastructureless peer-to-peer network. We develop a new reactive energy-efficient routing protocol based on knapsack mechanism. It selects the routing path based on the current residual condition of network nodes. Simulation results conclude that our proposed method is better in comparison with the existing works E-AODV, MRPC with respect to network lifetime and link stability.

Near Field Communication is the technology that will remain widespread in continual with the growth of smart phone influx [1, 10, 12, 15]. Moreover, people use smart phone’s to imperforate their mobile banking activities which in turn results in fraudulent activities. The fast growing use of electronic payments has increased the demand for emphatic, decisive and real time based method for fraud detection and prevention. To prevent fraudulent transaction a layered approach for NFC-enabled mobile payment system is proposed. The layered approach for fraud analytic will provide a solution based on transaction risk-modeling, business rule-based, and cross-field referencing.

Cognitive radios (CRs) are the nearly novel innovation in which issues such as under-utilization of spectrum and shortage of spectrum is comprehended in light of the progressive thoughts. Intellectual radio permits gathering of clients to recognize and entrance for accessible spectrum assets for utilizing ideally. Late learning demonstrates that the vast majority of the selected spectrum was under-utilized. Then again, the expanding number of remote sight and sound applications prompts a spectrum shortage. CRs are proposed as a capable innovation for tackling the awkwardness among spectrum shortage and spectrum under-utilization. In CRs, spectrum detecting was completed by keeping that in mind at the end of the goal to find the idle spectrum sections. This manuscript demonstrates that quality & capacities of CRs procedures and makes that all the extra intense more than the other focused radio. Anxiety is specified on appliance zones, where CR procedures are executed and demonstrated away to have high ground than the accessible intellect and adjusting radios.

Wireless Sensor and Actor Networks (WSANs) are composed of heterogeneous nodes referred to as sensors and actors. Sensors are low-cost, low-power, multi-functional devices that communicate untethered in short distances. Actors collect and process sensor data and perform appropriate actions on the environment. Hence, actors are resource-rich devices equipped with higher processing and transmission capabilities, and longer battery life.In WSANs, the collaborative operation of the sensors enables the distributed sensing of a physical phenomenon. After sensors detect an event in the deployment field, the event data is distributively processed and transmitted to the actors, which gather, process, and eventually reconstruct the event data. WSANs can be considered a distributed control system designed to react to sensor information with an effective and timely action. For this reason, in WSANs it is important to provide real-time coordination and communication to guarantee timely execution of the right actions and energy efficiency of the networking protocols is also a major concern, since sensors are resource-constrained devices. We propose an energy efficient routing protocol for wireless sensor and actor networks to cope with these challenges keeping in mind the resource constraints of the network and the early response by the actor nodes for delay sensitive applications with number of transmissions as less as possible. Our protocol is based on clustering (virtual grid) and Voronoi region concept.
