Dust events are highly transitory in Australia and they tend to occur in remote areas. These events pose two monitoring problems: 1) having adequate spatial coverage in remote dust source areas; and 2) having continuous monitoring at sub-hourly intervals for long periods (years to decades) to “catch” the dust events.
